Jade Empire developer will base an unnamed game on Epic's next-gen technology said:
In a move few expected, two of the most respected names in game development teamed up today. BioWare announced it has struck a deal with Epic Games to license its Unreal 3.0 engine. Apparently, the deal was sealed some time ago, because "a BioWare development team is already hard at work on the Unreal Engine 3-powered game," read a joint statement from the two companies.

While the developer already has two high-profile games in the works--Jade Empire and Dragon Age--the Unreal engine will be used for "an as yet unannounced title, which features BioWare’s third new intellectual property." The joint statement revealed nothing about which platforms the game would be released on. "One of our development teams will now focus on using Unreal Engine 3 to help us create a great gaming experience in a timely manner," said BioWare co-CEO Dr. Ray Muzyka.

However, just because BioWare is licensing the Unreal engine doesn't mean that it is stopping work on its own proprietary game technology. Both Jade Empire and Dragon Age will run on BioWare-made engines, and the company "will continue to independently develop [its] own cutting-edge engine technology for future titles," mentioned co-CEO Dr. Greg Zeschuk.

No one interested in seeing KOTOR III in U3 graphics ?

I already saw this article. Hope its put to good use. Although I'm not really looking forword to KOTOR 2 or perhaps 3. The only rpg I want right now is.......Fallout 3.

kotor3??

actually i got the impression that they're gonna make an action game with the new technology, the graphical beef would just be a waste on an rpg.

yea, if you haven't figured it out i'm shooting for MDK3!!!
i mean, that's the most sensible thing to do with such powerful technology.

The engine wont be ready for another 2 years, so why get excited now?

Let's focus on Steam right now, once we get tired of that one, we can look toward buying another computer and looking toward Unreal 3 engine.

Well if i was gonna make an RPG i would go with source.

But apparently epic has licensed facial technology.

Fallout 3 would be pure, unadulterated bliss, and who cares what engine they use so long as its as good as, if not much better than the first two, that's definitely the game I want

WRONG you dumba**, it will be ready by next year, the first game to use it wont be out till 2006.

The Source wasn't ready but it was still being used by Trioka.

You're gonna get banned if you keep acting like this Omega.

i heard KOTOR 3's production is suspended due to layoffs in the production department of lucasarts...

Fallout 3 is being developed by Bethesda for those who don't already know, so I'm shooting for MDK3. However, they might already have a sequel planned for Jade Empire that I suppose could use the engine.

Pffft, they wouldn't. KOTOR 1 was a huge success, and by the looks of it KOTOR 2 will be the same. They'll want to squeeze every last penny out of the series, therefore a KOTOR 3 is to be expected ;)
