Mellish's greenscreening

you should play around with tracking , im sure Vegas has some form of feature point tracking ...

Why don't the shot holes stay on the door?

Why were the bullet holes on his own face? Also, you should probably just post the rest of your vids in here so you dont have to make a bajillion greenscreen threads.

I know that, but why even put them in if he's not going to do it right. Just looks like a huge flaw. Would have been better without. Either do it right or don't do it at all!

First was epic, second was kinda of lolz. I saw you had the Game on in the background while you were filming it...:D

This can be your green screening thread, I'll rename it for you. Happy days!

nvm , it appears that vegas doesnt actually have a tracking tool. Tracking basically allows you to record the motion of pixels in your video and then user that information to attach clips or images.

Oh, and just so everyone knows, the correct term for this is composting, not greenscreening. You're taking CG elements and putting them into live action footage. Greenscreening is only used when putting live action elements into CG footage via recording the live action in front of a greenscreen, and then keying out the elements you want, using the green color to sample.

Just an FYI.

First one was the best by a long shot.

How'd you make these?

PS: Does anyone remember that short movie made a few years ago, where a guy had composited a bunch of HL2 enemies into a live-action film? It had striders stepping on cars and shit, and the end you could see the Citadel outside his window. I wish I could find that.

The "Holy shit it's a strider" part had LOADS of emotion and sounded like you REALLY meant it /sarcasm

Heh other then the flawed voice acting you did a good job on that one!

Couldn't edit my post, sorry.

Ennui: You need video editing software like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. It is really quite simple and it doesn't require much skill. Just search for tutorial on youtube.

Krynn72: Composting right, just assumed that it was greenscreening 'cos I used a greenscreen. I don't think I will ever be as good as that video though. :p

I think y'all mean compositing. It's quite different from composting.

also, I like your videos, but you need to find a way to keep the bullet holes from showing up. Probably something in the console will help.

Yes, composting is turning trash into fertilizer, compositing is combining various layers of images to look as if they are only one layer. Mellish I guess I'll sniff around the internet, I've been editing with Premiere for many years though, just never have ventured into the land of compositing or greenscreening.

Mellish, what you should have done, is actually thrown/distracted your dog to run in a direction after you threw the grenade so it actually looked like he was going after to retrieve it. And as you turned around you just hear the explosion.

It would be hilarious.

Use the Force, Krynn. Trust your instincts.

anyone else notice in the first vid theres a girl in the background asking him "what are you doing?"

:)
