Hi everyone, I am currently trying to re-download ALL of steam/HL2 because of the referenced memory error/ intro screen wireframe errors. I have been browsing other forums as well as this one, and several people have mentioned that they noticed (after getting these problems) that thier HL:S was only partially downloaded, and was actually trying to download more while they tried to play halflife2 (and this was messing hl2 up). AS soon as HL:S was done downloading, thier errors went away.

Do any of you have any theories on this, or has this happened to you?? I would love some input on this, cause I still have 219 minutes of download to go before I can play!!!

Just an update, I gave up on re-downloading ALL files, and put my original steam directory back since i wanted to see if HL:S was still downloading -- it is 86% acquired, so I MAY have the HL:S download incomplete problems after all. I will update you all as soon as I know if d-loading HL:S fixes my memory issues.

BTW -- I also re-ran MemtestX86, and no memory errors here, so I do NOT think it really is memory.

well if it was memory it would probably be graphics memory rather than ram and i don't think memtest tests graphics memory does it?

No... But I figured I would elimitate one possibility. I also ran every graphics benchmark I could get my hands on (inluding the CS:S one) and none of them have had problems, so I am not convinced that this is a hardware issue -- I am working on seeing if my incomplete d/l of HL:S is the issue, and as soon as it is done I will test -- hopefully that will cure it, cause I WANT TO PLAY HL2!!! I have been working on this patiently for 3 hours now!

I got the bronze package so no hlsource for me, what if you guys try to delete the local content of hlsource and change the properties from keeping hls up to date. Would that solve the problem? Let me know.
