To say the least MGA story is the most “out of the world” Metal Gear story I heard.

Metal Gear Acid takes place in 2016 when 2 little Marionettes (Elsie and Francis) take over a plane containing many passengers including Senator Vigo Hatch (a fat bearded man with an ego problem). Hatch is said to be the promising next president of US. So off course US want him back. The Marionettes demand that they get the data on “Pythagoras” if they want all the 500+ passengers back.

The only problem is “Pythagoras” is a research project started by BEAGLE corp. in Tejan Republic of South Africa. Without any support from that government and the situation getting out of hand, US send in a Special Forces elite group under the codename: HRT. But before this group can find out any details on this project they get totally wiped out by the Lt. Leone forces. You later find out he is the leader of a huge Mercenary group that has sided with the anti-government forces in the past Civil War in that nation.

Out of options, the government decides to call in Solid Snake, a retired veteran of Fox-Hound to go infiltrate Lobito Island to get this “Pythagoras” data. Snake is called back to duty by Commander Roger McCoy, a CIA agent and a “war buddy” of Campbell. He is also supported by Alice Hazel, a very mysterious woman with psychic powers. She has what’s called “Distant See Through.” She can tell Snake which way to go, where a certain person is and also sometimes sense danger.

Once there at the island (and few levels later) Snake meets the sole survivor of the HRT team, Teliko Friedman. He also meets Gary… some guy on the island who is not really that much of a focal point in the story. As the story goes along we find out that “Pythagoras” is actually the code name for the data of a new Metal Gear. The 2 men who headed the project are William Fleming and Hans Davis.

They both also did a project called “Insect Poison Ceremony.” It was a project where some children (forgot the #) were locked in a warehouse until only one of them was alive and the survivor is called Neoteny. This Neoteny is able to control ACUA injected people, and make them obey into becoming slaves/soldiers.

This warehouse becomes the turning point in the story. In this Warehouse you fight Leone. Also at this point Gary shows up and tells who he really is. He is none other than William Fleming. Not only that he says “Solid Snake” is not who he says he really is. He says snake is actually Hans Davis, but with conjured images and memories to make him think that he is Solid Snake.

Snake not understanding what he is talking about, he just takes the Pythagoras Data from Fleming and get the hell out of there. But on there way though Dream Town, Teliko turns on Snake and attacks him. But after the battle (and her defeat) we find out that she was controlled all along till after you fought her. She has no idea what was going on and needs the whole situation explained (she asks who Snake is).

Rest of the plot is basically what can be expected, “snake” fighting a Metal Gear, fighting Leone, uncovering the truth on The Neoteny and saving the day again.

But basically, we don’t play Solid Snake. We play as someone named Hans Davis who looks like Snake and has memories of Snake. MGA really has no links to any other Metal Gear games story wise. The only real story/character connection is Campbell being a friend of Roger. Other than that link, MGA is full of new characters with a totally new location and an unrelating story.

But when it comes to gameplay and cards, just about every Metal Gear character is featured (including MG1 and MG2 characters). For some characters, when you use there card you see a small clip featuring that character before it’s used. (like for EVA card where it shows the clip from MGS3 where she is crawling in here swimsuit)

....wtf?

I would crush those marionettes with my feet.

good, now i don;pt have to spend $250 dollars on a PSP and $50 on the game

^What he said, I'll just get it when GT4 Mobile comes out.

I wonder why it's called Metal Gear...ACID?...
Hideo must be telling us something.

Why it's brilliant, or are you another wine that hates Raiden and wants his gameplay and stories short and simple, if yes, then go play Splinter Cell.

Isn't Acid...that uhh...Card battle MGS game, btw?
Yeah, Uh...Have fun with that, Fox.

It's Hideo Kojima, and personally I loved MGS2, and the story for this one sounds good, but I still think the PSP is a helluva lot of money, I'd like to see the script of the game, Hideo always does come up with very good ideas, points, and philosophy

Oh my god, that's the plot of an actual game?
I thought it was an brilliant parody of MGS2's crazy-plot.

I mean, part of the game might be a dream, people think they're snake but aren't, peripheral characters who serve no purpose show up and then disappear, psychic powers and the obligatory Metal Gear battle followed by a smaller battle at the end. :p
Plus, BEAGLE Corp.? Distant See-Through?

Don't get me wrong, I loved MGS2, but Kojima's plots are just insane sometimes.

Meh its alright...i mainly want the game for gameplay than the plot. the plots always seem to go a bit crazy at the end, like MGS2.

MGS1 still can't be beaten :D

ps: I:VE MET HIDEO KOJIMA! :D :D :D

Hehe. I get jokes.

But damn, that's one convoluted plot. I can only hope that it makes more sense when you play it. I mean, I won't be playing it, but I'm sure you guys will.

Guys, Hideo Kojima didn't design MGA, of my knowledge it was a new team that both designed the game and wrote the story for it, so don't lose respect for Kojima, do it for this newbie-team.:)*Remembers reading on GameSpot when the game was first announced that MGA is being designed by a new team, not sure it's true tho.*

I love MGS. I played through it 20 times. The story in MGS 1 & 2 is brilliant. But they're puppets for God's sake.

yeh thats true because he had two projects and he wanted to spend all his time on MGS3 so he left it all to a new team which he had total faith in.

i just wish the port either MGS2 or MGS3 to the PSP...
