metal gear movie confirmed again

So long as Kojima doesn't write it, there's a chance it will be good.

it'll never get done by the first studio to "think" about doing a movie...i'm not worried.

when it IS seriously considered i will then be worried cause Doom was a 2/10, Res Evil was a 4/10 and Silent Hill was a 7/10. This will more then likely be a 2-5 out of 10 if made into a movie.

This is such a horrible idea.

That is, unless they cast Robert Duvall as Ocelot. Then I'm sold.

lol! Reminds me of Full-Life Consiquences :D someone make a flash of this!!
Same author.

"It will be you left to beat the bad guys in the world and do what needs to be done." Solid Snake said to Jake Snake then he died later.
That should've given it away :p

You know what's funny? Despite him having such poor writing skills, he still probably makes more cash than you, and is respected by far more people.

If its anything like Metal Gear Solid, it will be a pretentious pile of shit.

ummm hate to burst your bubble but its been done...(well more or less)

Snake Plisskin owns MGS. John Carpenter and Kurt Douglas are awesome together. MGS has always seemed lame to me and a rip-off from "Escape from New York" and "Escape from LA". He even has the eye patch and talks just like Snake. They even had the grandpa for Peter Parker in Spider-Man in that film. Except not really.

No really.

People will turn into flying ravens when they die, villians will have 5 minute monologues as their death rattles. Some annoying scientist will lecture everyone about the horrors of nuclear weapons for the relative amount of time the game used to send its message, which will end up being about 0.5 seconds.

Yet fanboys everywhere will proclaim it to be the greatest film since Serenity (also highly overrated) and it will instantly be propelled to a cult status thanks to gamers who have no actual grasp on how story-telling is meant to be done.

The only thing that can stop this from being a pretentious pile of shit, is a director and a writer who have a clue about narratives. But if its character even slightly resemble those out of MGS, it will be a pile of shit regardless of how talented anyone involved with the production is.

And no, Kojima is nowhere near talented enough to direct or write. In those departments he's a talentless hack.

Mark my words.

You could probably take the core storyline and strip everything else out except for the primary characters and have a decent movie. I mean, the idea of a soldier being sent into a nuclear facility overtaken by mercenaries to destroy a secret weapon is solid enough. The added twist with Foxdie is actually pretty clever. I like the idea of having a flawed main character that actually succumbs to torture, possibly leading to Meryl's death. The cloning thing could even stay, leading to a climactic battle with Liquid which the main character wins despite being genetically inferior ... it also opens the door for prequels with Big Boss.

As long as you stripped the stupid Jappy stuff out and kept the core elements you could come up with a halfway decent movie that still strongly resembled the series.

It looks like some folks missed the point of the games.
It's meant to be off the wall, in the same way the Kill Bill movies are.

Remove all the "stupid jappy stuff" and you end up with Splinter Cell.

I really love Kojima's flavor. I personally don't think a movie is neccessary since the games are interactive movies in and of themselves. Hell, in the special edition of MGS3, you get an extra disk that shows all the cutscenes edited into a 3 hour film.

I dunno, I think Serenity was underrated, and deserved more light. I hardly see people talking good about serenity although i think its a excellent movie.

Realestically, if it's made into a movie, then it will just be horribly made and all around awful.

But no, the game's aren't pretentious. Ok, 2 was, but 1 and 3 were just cheesy. There's a difference.

It works better in Kill Bill than MGS. It makes Kill Bill what it is and is part of the reason it's so good. In MGS it's something you tolerate because the rest of the game is so damn good, but still cringe everytime a man comes back to life via arm transplant or a vampire runs on water and up a building.

What the hell?

I always thought the worst was when the characters breakout into lengthy monologues of **** all anytime, anywhere. "I'm going to kill you. But first, allow me to educate you on the important details regarding the Philosophers legacy!"

Horrible narrative.

one thing is that kjima dont care if some characters or stuff hav sense

I think it was mentioned in a conversation in mgs3,since the game is based on the 60's various 60's movies are mentioned, one was one called "the earth against the spider" it sayd that it didnt matter how the spider get that huge size whats matter is that there is a giant spider killing everyone
cuz you dont watch movies or play games to see how realistic they are you watch them to see what will happen
so maybe that will explain some stuff

Exactly, RJMC got it on the nose.

The absurd stuff are just elements taken from other games and action movies. Instead of basing an entire game on a vampire though (something nobody questions in stuff like Devil May Cry) the vampire is only one small detail.
It's deliberately artificial, but works anyways under an internal logic.
That's pretty much the entire moral of the first two games.

As for the long monologues, the same applies.
People sometimes have the same complaint with movies like Ghost in the Shell as well.
Personally, I think they work because of the lack of realism.
An unrealistic story is the only situation in which those monologues could exist, and the game would become stupid without them.

Um ... some would say the game becomes stupid because of them. There is a thing called suspension of disbelief. If you play a game about vampires and the entire premise is built upon vampires, you accept that going in. When you play a seemingly realistic military action game and get vampires and people coming to life through arm transplants and shamans ... it's silly. The series would be better without these elements. Maybe something got lost in translation, but I don't feel any charm or affection towards these eccentric elements, I find them distracting and annoying. And speaking of the translation, I really hope some of these lines sounded better in their native language.

Keep in mind MGS is my favorite game series ... but it has flaws.

*shudders*
When will these people learn...games should not be made into films. Save a very small minority they were mostly the worst films ever made and got the games a bad name as well.
