Shame there's no subs, but yeah it looks nice, which ain't surprising.

I honestly don't expect Snake to kill himself though, remember how much Kojima 'played' with 'our' minds back with the MGS2 trailers?:)

I expect the same thing here.

Yeah it same a bit to obvious tbh.

The previews on the net so far for the game have been great, scans from mags are around the net too, alot of journos have completed the game and said its great.

I watched it just for the amusement of hearing Japanese people say "snake".
 
I still don't have any ****ing clue what's going on in this game. Nevertheless, it looks good, but no way in hell am I buying a console for one game. I'll play it over a mates house sometime. Scratch that, no one has a PS3. I'll play it... somehow. Iunno.

Just been reading the Wiki... how the **** did Solid manage to scavenge and reanimate the original Metal Gear REX?
 
Looks great and I can't wait but the ending just seems contrived as we've already seen in other trailers snake seem to attempt suicide with a gun.

Probably just ate a ration afterwards, fixed him right up.

That being said, someone please tell me they left out the god awful first aid system from MGS3. Also the unwieldly camouflage and constant menu hopping... not that I'll likely ever play it, but that would pretty much gurantee I never do.
 
They must have the best Game Over screens.

I have a PS3 and I am hyped as hell!! Clearly one of the best releases of the year. This, GTA IV, Fable 2, Little Big Planet, Dragon Quest IX (if it comes out), Motorstorm 2, Alan Wake (if it comes out)...man, what a year!! And who knows what else might make it out?? Killzone 2?? Crazee....
 
I'll wait for the cutscenes to appear on YouTube, that way I won't waste my money on the console and the game while being able to enjoy 95% of the game. <3 Web 2.0.

Frankly, I'm only interested in this game because I want to know how Snake managed to pull this off:

Shmexy. Snake has such a rocking mo. Almost makes me want to age 50 years.
 
I'm getting a PS3 after the summer. It'll be hard trying to balance playing this, GTA4, and GT5, but it'll sure as hell be fun.
 
Looks meh. I dont get why so many people go apeshit over these games.
 
I'm big over the MGS games just for the cutscenes. The art direction iis just beautiful. My first and only MGS game I have played and owned is the one for the PSP. I hate the gameplay but again the art is what makes MGS.

That's by far the worst game to start out with. Don't get my wrong, they're great games in their own special handheld kind of way, but they're still handheld games. If you really want to enjoy MGS, you need to start with the console versions. Preferably MGS1 so you have an idea of where the story begins but it's probably a little hard to get through since it's so dated. In any case, you need to play both MGS2 and MGS3.

Wait, let me rephrase it:

YOU. MUST. PLAY. IT.

As for the gameplay, that's entirely subjective but, there's no better stealth game out there. This is bar none the best the genre has to offer.
 
Erm, I think Splinter Cell beats MGS when it comes to being STEALTHY, I played through both MGS1, 2 and 3 being fairly rambo... Hard to do that in Splinter Cell 1.
 
Thieves do that too. MGS is pretty basic when it comes to stealth.
 
It's an incredibly basic stealth game and you know, I don't really think there's much going on stealth wise at all. That said the gameplay is still actually really good.
 
Pfft thats bolox imo, I ghost mgs all the time, EURO EXTREME ftw noobs.
 
See? That's why it's a simple stealth game. Try ghosting the entirety of Thief 2.
 
Stealth is as important to mgs as shooting is to half-life. Yes it's a big element, and it is and should be fun,
but it doesn't need to be the stealthiest game, it has so much more going for it. And if your just judging it
by that you're missing a lot.
 
All you Metal Gear n00bs need not worry. Simply pre-order the game and you get a free DVD that has basically the enitre history of the Metal Gear series in a wonderfully packaged and nicely produced nutshell. Great way to try once again to wrap your brain around the insanity that is the Metal Gear storyline.
