I am sure there are unlockables costume and one if the normal snake

btw will be cool if this mgs keep the same camouflage thing form the 3

Probably in the form of an Easter Egg. In MGS2 as Raiden you could find a shaver, then give it to Snake and he'd be clean shaven by the end of the game.

Although I like the moustache, pretty natural transition. The game looks absolutely amazing, and seeing as the MGS series is the best gaming has to offer, it's very possible that this will be my favorite game when it's released. The day this game comes out will be the day I buy a PS3, as MGS and HL are really the only games I care about.
 
Even badasses get old.

I like the older looking Snake, he still looks tough.

Hopefully MGS4'll release late 2k6, that'll give me some time to save up for the PS3, seeing as I'll most likely not be able to afford it if it releases in March.:)
 
I just checked out the "new" trailer where they actually manually control the camera around Snake.
And they moved the "light-source" around, the funny thing was there was nothing else casting shadows.:)
It was like the only dynamic shadows in the trailer atleast are Self-Shadowing.
And the fact that they use light-maps otherwise probably means we won't be seeing any really dynamic day and night cycles like I had hoped.

It's still nice but I do believe the UE3 for example could kick it's royal arse, but so far that's just my belief.
I guess we'll see for sure 2k6/2k7..
I'm hoping for'em to make it so that lamps etc too casts dynamic shadows..

EDIT Wow, great vid. It looks -of course- better than the shaky vids earlier this week. I also liked the last bit where Snake is talking to the little robot about the cell chip. Didn't see that in the shaky vids. Very funneh. "Snake, don't you wanna win the console-wars?"

Whether you realize it or not, he is welcome to an opinion you know.

But I personally think Snake looks great. "Snake, you haven't aged well." :p
 
Its not that, its his opinion you know, whatever. Its the fact people keep on complaining about his look everywhere I go, especially IGN. They're like "Oh don't worry, we'll play Snake in flashbacks with him as his younger self" or "I hope we can remove the moustache." People were expecting a younger snake and now are mad its not. He has to be old now or else the storyline wouldn't make any sense. He already looked like he was in his early to mid 40s in MGS2 when he was only 37 or so. Now, he's probably about 46 or so and he looks 55. It works. With his advanced aging, fox die, and fighting a never ending battle, he should look 55.
 
Well, I'm inclined to agree. Some people are taking it very badly, and are living in denial. Its just too bad really. It'll pass over and slowly people will accept it, some sooner than others...the same thing happened with Snake eater when it was said you play as Big boss.

Some took the stance of: "omfg no you don't, its Snake in a machine replaying bits of Big boss's memory!"

Which, I laughed at. Gradually, most people will accept it.

I found that most people were excited to play as Big Boss.

I understand why they don't like old Snake. My dad is 55 and he doesn't look anything like that. This Snake looks like he's freakin' 65, possibly 70. And people can go on about "OMG it's part of the story don't you get it?!?!" and here's the thing: I don't care. I don't care if it was intentional and it makes sense within the context of the story. That doesn't make it look any less stupid.

As for the video itself... well, aren't I the (un)healthy skeptic as always? Anybody that played MGS2 knows that they tend to buff up and shine their cutscenes in terms of visuals, animation, sound, everything. So much to the point that they are ridiculously removed from what you experience in terms of actual gameplay. Everything in that video seems to be exactly that. And I find it hilarious that they pimp up the PS3 by showing that pre-rendered Killzone footage. OE YES TEH REVOLUTON!!!!!11!~! You can whipe the jizz from your face now.

That said, I do get some entertainment out of the games. I'll give it a shot. I'm just cautious. Both Sony and Konami have a history of dressing up their products as something more than they really are.

Well, I thought it there was a split opinion. I thought alot of people were opposed to the idea, but gradually, or rather rapidly, it began to grow on them.

I await to see what cock bull story Kojima pulls out of course, I mean, it cannot be any worse than living through an arm, no? Meh, I think it looks awesome all the same. :p
 
I would actually like a much much less feminine raiden.



I personally wouldn't care if snake was 70, but the mustache is just crazy looking.

And Gamespot has an article that details a bunch of great stuff from the trailer and beyond. Here's a snippet:

Kojima repeated that the concept behind MGS4 is "no place to hide." He also confirmed that the game takes place in the war zone, but he didn't name any specific locale where the game takes place. "MGS4 will take place in a 'situation' rather than a 'location,' and the situation is the war zone," he said, revealing that there will be other locales in the game. "Aside from the war zone that we've just shown [in the trailer], Snake will infiltrate other war zones throughout the world."

Just think of the cool places that Snake could be infiltrating--thanks to some questionable foreign policies, the whole world could potentially be available for missions!
