Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater

I'd rather play Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow online than that trash. :)

Yeah the MGS series has always been a little "odd" to me - though this one looks more realistic than the previous entries (not a very difficult thing to do mind you)

Awesome.

Absolutely love MGS2, but is Hideo Kojima involved with MGS3?

Yes, but at the beginning it says "A Hideo Kojima GAME", which hopefully means he's toned the story sequences down a bit ... :)

The enemy also gets mortar support in certain areas if you are spotted, and possibly jeeps with enemy backup. You can hang from trees and shoot, and use the camoflage system to let a guard walk straight by you. Stalking is done by using the D-Pad to navigate, so that you always move at a silent (slow as well) speed, so now you don't have to worry whether you're pushing the analogue stick too hard or not.You can also slit an enemy's throat with the hunting knife, and you can also shoot while holding a hostage. You also have to hunt to keep your stamina up, and you can disarm enemy's using CQC.

SC: PT or SC3 is better than this ?
Doubt it ! :p

I doubt Splinter Cell would be around if it wasn't for Metal Gear Solid. That was such an awesome game on so many levels, and MGS3 looks to top it.

EDIT: That part with the aligator hat was awesome!

Very cool. And check the trailer: Don't those flamethrower guys look familiar? :)

1 was great, 2 was, odd, u didnt play as snake (crap point 1), u played as some sissy duy with a mullet (point2) , u r girlfriend was involved (3), too much odd crap like the vamp dude, presidents being puppets (4), and the 2o min cut scenes (5)

crap point value=5

Im a huge MGS fan, been following MGS:SE way before E3, but I stopped because Splinter Cell 3 looks so much cooler.

None of that will be in the new one. It's Snake badassery throughout the whole game. Just look at the E3 2004 trailer... nothing but style.

Its Big Boss, not Snake, its set in 1964 not current, and Raiden was in the E32004 trailer at the end, although he is not called Raiden. And I have already read part of the script since it was released on the net if you were a true MGS fan you would all know this.

I know it's Big Boss... but before he BECAME Big Boss, he was called Snake. You could have at least put in spoiler tags for the people that didn't want to know about it yet.. you don't play as Raiden either, which is what turned a lot of people off to MGS2, but he is a crucial part to the story of MGS3.

Actually he was called Naked Snake, and this is all info from the trailers, no need for tags. AND AND AND, Raiden won't be played as since Hideo said you won't switch chars.

He's still Snake, and I said that you wouldn't play as Raiden.. :hmph:

lol, how many mullets have you seen? Snake had the mullet in MGS2! Raiden just had long hair. There IS a difference you know. :p

I was huge MGS and MGS2 fan, I will be looking forward to Snake Eater.

Yeah but you have to admit, the vampire was a cool dude!. ;)

He was my favourite character! Vamp was so cool. One thing I thought was cool was that Phil La Mar played him, who was Marvin in Pulp Fiction. I find it funny that he got shot in the face in both Pulp Fiction and MGS2. :D

So people complain about Vamp being a weird boss but don't you remember some of the bosses in MGS? MGS has some weird ass bosses.

I always figured it was Fat Man that pushed them over the edge, it was almost too much. I mean come on, a fat bald dude covered in lead on roller skates drinking wine through a straw? Psycho Mantis was more grounded that he was. I know he was meant to be a bit insane, but I guess the game never really nailed this down before you met him.

The MGS2 bosses are excellent and fat man was great. Best boss ever.
Looking forward to MGS3 should be the best game out for several years :D

Yeah, MGS3 is going to be unbelievable. Definitely the best game coming out this year (and that's saying a lot, there's some stiff competition).

Splinter Cell 3 is well and good, but in my opinion MGS1 is a lot more fun than the SC games, and MGS2 blows them out of the water. SC is still a very good stealth action series though.

Yeah the vampire dude was cool. but This new one looks awesome. i really hope theres no vampires or anything in this one, becuase i like realistic games. and no Ridan eather. :afro:

If you want realistic I suggest you stay away from all MGS games.

The part in the trailer with revolver ocelot was kick ass. I love how he ricochets the shot to hit the guy hiding behing the rubble. Great stuff.

MGS3 will have alot more weird stuff, as in....

There will be a enemy that shoots bees from his mouth and throws bee grenades, a 100 year old sniper, and a dude that shoots lightning from his fingers, this is all taken directly from the script.

The MGS3 trailers are so well done. The music is excellent it it really fits the theme of the game well. I'm just glad i'll have a while to play Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 before it comes out.

I noticed the bees in the newest trailer, and that lightning guy was in it so much that it seems like he is probably the major boss.

Yeah i admit i didnt particually like Raiden either, it was like "WTF OMG WTF!!!" when you took over him but the game still was kick ass even though your playing a virtual reality David Beckham.

I dont think MGS3 will be realistic, it will be in the sense of stealth (guards will notice anything you would in real life etc... ) but its a japanese game and japanese games always have touches of un-realism in them.

The non realistic bits are what make the game great imo. It gets boring/too hard when its too realistic

Im a big fan of the Metal Gear Solid series and I am so looking forward to #3. Splinter Cell is just a big pile of crap in comparison. Splinter Cell is just so tame and boring its unbelievable.

You obviously haven't seen all the Splinter Cell 3 media, slitting throats and stabbing people in the back and watching their corpse go down a flight of stairs sounds alot cooler than shooting RPG's at a helicopter and trying to follow a crazy storyline.

You make it sounds like that's what most of MGS3 is about... A large part of the series is the unique gameplay, storyline, and difficult battle sequences (if you can recall the battle sequence with Psycho Mantis from the first game, I still think that is one of the most memerable battles ever, simply because it involved more than just in-games action). If you've seen all the trailers, than you'll have a good idea of how much interactivity MGS3 has to offer. The Splinter Cell games, although great, haven't really changed from game to game in terms of innovation. MGS3 has had an almost complete re-write from the last two games, and now stealth and survival is a larger component to the gameplay than ever before. The storyline to the MGS series has kept me greatly entertained, while Splinter Cell is just more Tom Clancy politics, which IMO gets pretty boring after a while. Trust me, Kojima will not disappoint us.

Splinter Cell is all about graphics. Yeah the graphics are good but they mean nothing when not accompanied by a decent story etc. Id rather play a game with rubbish graphics and a great story than a game with great graphics and a rubbish story. I'd just like to point out that MGS has both a great story and great graphics.

I actually liked how Splinter Cell's plot was really rooted in reality, it just made it more immersive. Also, you've convieniently side-stepped that which makes a game fun, gameplay. :) I think both are pretty much equal by all angles. Though to be honest, comparing the two isn't that fair, because both have very different style sof gameplay. Metal Gear's core gameplay is more of a puzzle game in the same vain as Pac Man -- avoid the guards, collect items, and make it to the exit. In Splinter Cell you have to more a lot slower, and try to take advantage of your environment to get around security (which seems to be a trait that Metal Gear Solid 3 has learnt from Splinter Cell).
