Eysterday I tried Metal Gear Solid on my ps1, and I think that it is really great!!!! :)
I actually can´t explain why, I just thinks it´s great. (I just had to use a walkthrough a little in the begining.)

But I got three questions:
1) How many different metal Gear Solid games are there made?
and
2) How many are for PC?
and
3) Is "Snake eater" gonna come for PC sometime?

1) 3
2) All except Snake Eater.
3) Probably, but if it's anything like the others, stick with the PS2 version.

Technically, theres about 7 Metal gear games. But since you said Solid...3.Or 4, depending on Metal Gear: Solid.

The timeline goes like this:

Metal Gear. You are Solid Snake, newbie. You infiltrate outer heaven, and your objectives are to rescue "Grey Fox" and stop Metal Gear, a walking tank. and against all odds, you win. Wow, they didn't excpect that! Then, right at the end, you find out that the bad guy was your father. Errr... deja' vu?

Metal Gear 2: Solid snake (Japan only) Solid Snake's got something of a reputation for himself, now. He is sent into "Zanzibar Land", where he kills a lot of people, and finds a NEW Metal Gear, that's slightly better (I think they just gave it more guns or something). You find out that Grey Fox has defected to the other side; oh no! And your dad is still alive! Err... you kill them. The end.

Metal Gear 2: Solid snake (US only) We don't talk about this... Solid Snake is sent into the jungle, where he kills people with a minigun, and finds out that his dad is a robot. Yea. It's not really regarded as a true sequel... you can guess why :)

These two were released on some crappy 2D systems (I think MG was origonally out on some random arcade machine, then later appeared on the Genesis and the NES). Oh yea, then there were

Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake eater
Metal Gear Solid 4: omg teh ps3 lolz!!

And that's about it. History lesson over. Dismissed!

That wasn't the US version, it was a separate game called "Snake's Revenge"; a bizarre, unofficial pseudo-sequel to MG1. There's also "Metal Gear Acid", and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. Neither have anything to do with the main story.

Metal Gear Solid 4: omg teh ps3 lolz!!
Wrong!
The "Solid" series is a trilogy, period. Three games, three concepts. The PS3 game will be the start of a new series.

Then why do they still call it mgs and mot mg?, and why does it still have the majority of the chars of the previous game. because it's a direct sequel.

Propaganda, I never defected. I always stood for what I believed, it's the US government that defected what they stood for.

Its called Metal Gear Solid because of using 3D graphics. Solid has nothing to do with Solid Snake. Kojima said MGS4 is the start of a new series.

It's called a working title. Most gamers only know about MGS and it's sequels, so it's the easiest thing to call it until they announce the new title.
And just because it's a direct sequal, doesn't mean it has to be part of the same series.

Hopefully the new series will be named better than "MGS3: Subsistence" seems like they ran out of names...

Subsistence has something to do with Survival so it fits it fine.

What am I supposed to call it then? "Metal Gear Working Title?" There's no need to be a smart ass just because I used the same name that Kojima is currently using :|

And yes, it was. Snakes Revenge simply wasn't accepted by fans as a sequel, because it was... well... crap. Metal Gear: Solid Snake, the true sequel, has never, ever been released in the US. I don't think it's ever even been translated into English, apart from a fan based version. You're right about the neame though.

Sorry, wasn't trying to be a smartass. I jumped on that one without thinking.

Either way, it's useless in regards to the main story.

cool av griever.
Thanks. :)

I'm glad that Kojima will be retaining the MGS3 "sneak" system, i.e. that you actually have to make choices on things, or well, atleast that's what I understood, he said in an interview the MGS4 system would continue on the same track as MGS3 did with the camoflauge.
I can't wait to see it.

First that makes no sense
second, wouldn't MGA be called solid to, cause it's also in 3d
Third: prove it
It's called a working title. Most gamers only know about MGS and it's sequels, so it's the easiest thing to call it until they announce the new title.

Again if it is a new series why so many characters from Sons of liberty.
No it's not a new series, if it was a new series Hideo would let another director do it probably, and he would give him or himself more fredom. He wouldn't retain so many characters from the previous games.
There is more indirect evidence that this is ust a sequel, give us some prove that it's going to be a new series.

To be honest, what possible reason do they have to make it a new series? "We felt like it"?

Why not, i mean I would have liked it if mgs stayed a triologie. Why not, I thought they way they finished the story was very original, and satisfaying but yet left more then enough to think about. I mean if they go on to much they are going to cheapen the franchise.

I would not have minded if hideo just gave it to a new director, and gave him a lot of freedom. I mean, yes a lot of the "so called fans"would bitch, but they are just pussies who like SC a lot more and want mgs to be like SC. It would have been intersting. Hideo likes to surprise people.

But am I the only one who finds the MGS4 easter egg video wierd, cause on one hand it states, "there is no place to hide", which would indicate that it would be more action oriented. But in another scene we see snake dressed like sam fisher, which would indicate that Hideo listened to the bitching and moaning of the "so called MGS fans", but splinter cell is more stealthy. It could have been just a joke, but knowing kojima I would think it is a little paradox we have to solve for ourselfes to figure out how mgs4 will be.
