Well I just recently saw his movie, and I was surprised to see what I saw. It was disgusting yes, and I don't know why he isn't taken more seriously. I mean, the movie was what? 2 hours of recorded non-altered video of Bush's mistakes and him making an ass out of himself. It wasn't prefabricated footage or anything. Maybe if it was, I would understand why people hate him. But he just threw out facts proving each of his points by examples. Why are they considered fallacies? Why is he not taken seriously.... because republicans don't want to believe him?

Yes he does, is he supposed to be happy about how Bush is doing after compiling this heap of embarrasment to our country?

Personally, I just don't like him because he seems to think I don't have the intelligence to decide who to vote for myself.

People just don't want to be proven wrong. Ignorance is bliss.

Wait...this is a political thread!?!?!@?!?!@?@>?>

I never participate in those!

/me runs away

I think CNN said that if GB loses this years election Micheal Moore's views would be one of the top 3 reasons why. CNN sucks:)

/EDIT:Whoa, 1000 posts! It took more then a year but I did it,
/me goes sits in a corner and waits for HL2.

The Lies of Michael Moore

This article does not represent what I think..I just thought it was interesting. Im from the UK and I can't stand the bloke cause hes always moaning about something and he just doesnt seem to go away.

Plus we are forced to watch his boring crap in Media Studies. :frown:

In my opinion I've only found one worthwhile factcheck site for Moore's film. That's:

http://www.newsaic.com/f911index.html

Every other site is always partisan one way or the other. But this one is quite good.

No matter how right he may be what makes people hate him is how he has the opinion that his beliefs are the only correct ones and everyone else who disagrees with him is a complete moron.

If he wasn't so stuck up and just plain annoying then alot of people who currently hate him would actually be willing to listen to what he has to say.

quoted for emphasis, (no offence to those who are idiot's, but you need to wake up and smell the ash's of corrupt society, Bush is heavily part of that with his oil rich family, will he vow for best intrests in the country's people (meh) ,, or will it be the precious economy, and capitalist gains (who's you daddy)... hmm.. I bet cha he's thinking about the latter)

Where did he suggest that he didn't believe in anyone else's opinions? I would like to see, where you would get this sort of idea. If so this is extremely childish to not listen to what your peers have to say. It's the only way to make progress in this world, and I highly doubt a man of his brilliance would make such a stupid mistake.

I never said he doesn't listen to anyone elses opinions. He simply ridicules everyone who disagrees with him, whether you like it or not he is not the god send alot of people think he is. Anyone who thinks its a good idea to convince people of your opinions by insulting and ridiculing anyone who disagrees with your own really needs to take a look at the kind of problems that creates.

I can bet the number of people he has turned away with his way of arguing who would have agreed with someone with a calmer and more accepting attitude is substantial. I am close to being one of them, I agree with most of what he says but I hate is guts.

EDIT: And will everyone please quite calling everyone morons! Don't you people realize that by insulting someone who disagrees with you are only going to infuriate them and strengthen their resolve to fight against your arguments?! Also if everything was so plain black and white in these scenerios then we wouldn't even be having these debates! Stop holding your damn head so high thinking you are so right and everyone else is just a moron, you are only widening the divide and creating more problems.

People are smarter than you think, just because you can't understand their reasoning doesn't make them a moron!!

its not just a way to make progress, it's what also brings the worst out in most people, im only stating the truth's negative impact's on society, and im tired of seeing poor and rich divide , like a *tough shit* attitude , its so pathetically childish, i want to instir change in thought atleast, evolve a bit more, and perhaps quit being the retarded apes we should of stopped acting like along time ago.

I'm not going to follow this thread, but I do want to say that I really enjoyed what I have read (Stupid white Men, Dude Wheres my Country and Downsize This) and seen (Bowling for Columbine) of his, but I think he needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Also I believe I have a very neutral perspective on this, because I live in New Zealand (about as far removed from America and the bullshit it causes as you can get). George Bush is an idiot.

Well the truth hurts. It's a well-known fact. And I also get the feeling he's trying to help America out in his own way. And I like that. Even though I'm not an American ;(

well its fair enough that people can slam michael moore himself but to call his work 'boring crap' seems a little narrow minded to me. his stuff is NOT boring, whether you believe some of it to be fabricated or not, i just can't see how its boring in the slightest...especially bowling for columbine...that gives even the dumbest of shits something to think about.

Quoted because of its elloquence
I personally don't like him because he doesn't even try to make a real documentary, many others try and fail but he just makes a work of pure opinion and passes it off as truth, as if we don;t have enough of that shit going around, like we need one more fat ass liberal giving his opinion, if i want that i'll just turn on the news

I have to disagree mercypooh ;)

I'm not american, but I also think Bush is a wacko, although
Moore does tend to minipulate the truth and not everything he says should be believed.

Btw, he makes good movies :)

I dislike Moore because he could be so much better at getting his point across.

All his points are valid, and he presents them with a great deal of skill.
But then he screws things up by putting so much exageration and things that are not quite lies (extremely debatable truths) in his movies that it's difficult to take them seriously.

Fahrenheit 9/11 could be so much better, but he devotes the entire first half to vaguely defined conspiracy theories. Everyone knows that Bush loves oil, and everyone knows that the 2000 elections were a wreck. But his arguments concerning them are so weak that they undermine themselves. Now people use the fact that they can disprove Moore on those topics as evidence that the election was fine and Bush has no ties to oil.

He does an excellent job at pointing out the stupid level of fear that's popped up after 9/11, and the inept government response with stuff like duct tape and the terror alert scale. And he does a great job of criticising the war in Iraq. He could have had it four-for-four, but nope.

Basically, with the star power he has, I'd have hoped he'd put more focus on journalism and less on entertainment.

The problem is that he takes extremely serious and divisive topics and then presents his opinion rather casually, like he's having a conversation. Only he seems to forget that that conversation is being watched by millions of people, many of whom totally hate him and relish the idea of finding innaccuracies in what he says.

You mean John "Ketchup" Kerry is somehow less corrupt? lol

I don't like extremests. Especially those that form opinions and try to pass those opinions off to random people as fact.

hahahahaha john ketchup kerry.

Kerry's life is a complete phyco..im surprised she hasnt killed someone with a ketchup bottle by now...then again she did marry john.

"Kerry's life is a complete phyco" -kidrock
you heard it here first people!
wow.

A) Merc, Kidrock, you are both real assholes. What right do you have to use appearance/supposedly labelling him with "fag", an attack on a side of his sexuality that is not apparant?

B) From everything I've seen, he actually loves America, and what it stands for. What he hates are the people that try to exploit and hurt it, and he's doing things in the way he feels is best.

C) Before either of you try and insult him, try and use the English language you were born to with a bit of competence.

Kangry, or I mean, Kangy, you are also an asshole. What right do you have to use Bush's appearance/supposedly labelling him with "hitler", an attack on a side of his position that is not apparent?

From everything I've seen, he actually loves America, and what it stands for. What he hates, are the people that try to exploit and hurt it, and he's doing things in a way that feels is best.

Easy.

Now, Kangy, its much the same reversed for people who dont like Michael Moore.

People say: "OMFG WUT IS WRONG WIT TEH SOUTH OMGZ BUSH AND EVERYBODIE SOUTH HATES MICHAEL MOORE THEY"RE JUST UPSET CUZ HE HAS AN OPINION

I say: OMFG GET IT THROUGH YOUR AHEAD. HE HAS AN OPINION ABOUT AMERICA, AND THEY DONT LIKE IT. OMFG THEY HAVE AN OPINION TOO!

:P

Congratulations on a flawed attack.

I've yet to call Bush Hitler, and I'm not likely to.

I understand they have an opinion too, but frankly, I question the need to take anyone using "fag" and "fat" as a way to somehow disprove him seriously.

I'm from the south and I hate Bush and Michael Moore... ;) So that doesn't include me.

How I see it is that everyone who "badmouths" michael more considers themselvs a "patriot"... But all I really see him doing is concentrating on the "bad" aspects of america and emphasies them. I really don't see how you can hate a person that explains what's wrong with his country... You and your first amendment... /me sighs. In europe, we take it as granted. We don't need no law that tell's us we have free speechs...

Oh sure, but please, save the rant for elsewhere. People are just suprised other people, dont like a certain media, or a certain person because of their viewpoints.

We can narrow down the arguement to, "dont hate the person", but people have trouble ignoring the face and personalities most closely identified with the things they dislike.

Needless to say, people dont like Michael Moore, because of his opinions. Quiet clearly, he does'nt like Bush, because of his.

What is this supposed to be? People falling over and admiring one man because he pointed out, (y variable)? No. This is a democracy, and he brought somethings that needed attention by the public.

Some people liked the message, and agreed. Others, like the message, but disagreed. Its no point or problem.
