Microphone don't sound so good in CS:S

Basically my mic sounds all muffled when i play CS:S but, is fine when im in windows and use sound recorder, teamspeak etc.
Got onboard sound will getting a sound card fix this.
Drivers are up to date.

Also in CS:S the console command "voice_loopback 1" does that make it so you hear what your saying as everyone else is hearing it.

I've been having a very similar problem. I also would like to find out how to fix this. I've tried various sound cards and it does seem muffled.

The Miles sound system that Counter-Strike uses is pretty old and crappy. My mic also sounds terrible. There's nothing you can really do to fix it.

As you said, teamspeak and comm systems outside of CS:S are good, use those whenever possible.
CS:S voice comm just sucks. They should upgrade/update it.
