Not so troubling to Sony after all?

The Japanese developer won?t even begin working on the Xbox 360 version until the PS3 version is finished. The Square Enix representatives were frank on this point: porting the game will take a long time. And after it?s ported, it?ll still have to be localised.

Realistically, that?ll mean a gap of around a year between the two ? and the PS3 version is still a long, long way off. There is little hope for FFXIII landing on the 360 this side of 2010.

Dosent change the fact that people dont have to buy a PS3 in order to play FF13. Might just have to wait a little longer.
And I highly doubt there will be a year gap between the PS3 and 360 version, if any delay at all. Because the Crystal Tools engine which FF13 is built on was developed to be crossplatform from the start.

Besides, who gives a care about some no-name game website says and cites no sources.

Yeah, this is sort of what I though originally. Japan (arguably the world's largest RPG market) is still getting the game only on PS3. Europe and NA will get it on both and each version should be released around the same time.

Of course, if SE has an agreement with MS (which I think they do) which says they cannot release it for the PS3 too far ahead of the 360 version, then it will not push as many Sony systems because people with neither system might choose the 360. If, however, they do not, then the PS3 version will rule the shelves and it will sell loads of PS3s.

Either way, it should be interesting to see how it all unfolds as the game is being designed 100% on PS3 hardware then ported. I can't help but be very excited to see how that whole process goes. Makes sense as people have stated that it makes the most sense to lead with the PS3 and port to others.

You must be an idiot if this doesn't trouble sony at all.

Sony lost one of their well known exclusive title to their rival.

It's like a kick to the balls with steel foot.

So no, the bomb shell dropped exploded like Hiroshima.

Everybody else is saying that they'll be porting it to 360 (not bothering with Japanese since it won't be released in Japan) and localizing it for PS3 at the same time.

They also said they'd both launch at the same time.

I wouldn't doubt that the 360 version might come out later, but just going on what they said it sounds like they might release at the same time.

Wait let me get this straight. The PS3 and the 360 versions will come out around the same time in US and EU. As localization and porting will be done after the PS3 Japanese launch. If this is so then this is a massive blow to Sony, the 360 is a lost battle in Japan. Tut it's doing well in Europe and the US. And getting FF will only straighten that. I was considering getting a PS3 mainly due to FF13, now i know there is a 360 version coming there is no way in hell i'm getting a PS3 now.

I'm slightly interested in what they are doing with this game - really just want to see what direction they are taking the series, as I liked FF 3 back when I was a kid

So does anyone have any idea what this game is even going to be like? Is it a MMORPG or an RPG or what?

Is there any media on this yet? (Anyone seen any screenshots or video?)

There are both videos and screenshots out for FFXIII, has been for quite some time,, it's a singleplayer RPG just like FFXII, you know VirusType2, and I don't mean this like an insult, but it would probably most of the time be quicker for you to simple google "FFXIII en.wikipedia" than make a post in here.:p

It seems like people just want to argue about which console is better, which console is more successful and don't even know what the game is yet.

I'll see my way out.

Yeah, the whole "So and so console is better, TAKE THAT" argument is getting very stagnant...

Though, hell, it is sad for Sony to lose their exclusive. I wonder if anybody cried :(

Did you miss the question mark? Purely speculative man

Christ, I thought the console war was over..

It seems I'm part of a very small minority of people who don't like system exclusives. My best mate owns a 360, and I want him to be able to play the games I do, so we can share our experiences of them. So the news he will also be able to pick up FFXIII is welcome to me, as I'm a long time fan and I'll finally be able to talk to him about a Final Fantasy game. I couldn't care less about how well the console I own is doing market-wise, so long as I still get to play the games. In fact I know of no other product which inspires such brand-loyalty; people don't brag when the manufacturer of their TV buys the rights to some new technology or becomes market leader. F*** the console war, I'm not enlisting.

You are not alone. In my dreams, every game is out on every platform. I really don't understand why a PS3 owner should be annoyed by the fact that FFXIII is out on 360, too. Does this thing water down his gaming experience? Not at all. Come on, we don't have to be so selfish and childish.

It's a non-event not because of how long it will take to release a port after the game's release, but because the financial differences between the two consoles will probably have eroded significantly by the time either version makes it to the western markets, so this console war of attrition will be 'decided' as far as it's ever going to be before the game is released whether PS3 exclusive or nay.

Though as Versus XIII is still a PS3 exclusive, I don't see many existing fan allegiances switching anyway. And all in all, i'd take a decent PC version over either of them.

I'm not going to buy it for any system.

The real news here is that there are apparently still people who care about Final Fantasy.
