Well it's been a few months since I tried recruiting, but as the time closes in on HL2's release, we're trying again.

Mind-Body-Power is a total conversion modification for the upcoming video game Halflife 2. Set in a bleak view of the near future, MBP pits you against other factions battling for control of the earth. Combining special skills, stat points, and three unique classes, MBP will offer gameplay unlike any other mod. Custom design a character choosing from over 30 skills specific to one of the categories Mind, Body, or Power. The mind class features skills based on magic, the body class is based loosely on martial arts and the mastery of ki, and the power class uses the futuristic technology of cold fusion to power its arsenel. Who will arise victorious?

Currently, we are looking for some 3d modelers, animators, and skinners. If you're interested, more information can be found by posting on this thread (which I will check often), sending me an email at [email protected] , or stopping by our forums (easiest way)!

Hope to see some quality artists looking to join our team soon!

You know, we've really been quite negative about most of the mods that come along. Nearly everything can be broken into a "clone of this, this, and this." Let's wait and see some more details before we get hyper-critical. At the very least, MBP has been around for a while.
Guess you wont be pasting links up and shouting for everyone to go bash a mod no more then huh

=P

Yeah, MBP has been in the works since June 2003 (you know, back when HL2 was about to come out... for the first delay... =P). If nothing else, we've got 4-5 guys who have been anxiously awaiting the release for the last year to get started on the project. Now we need some 3d (and 2d, i should ad - hud, sprites, etc) artists to join the team :)

As far as what MBP is about, sorry for not explaining further... sometimes I forget that the hours and hours of site work and mbp forum discussion is never looked at by newcomers :p

The game will have 3 teams, 3 villages, and 3 "classes".
Classes:
Mind - Magic
Body - Martial Arts
Power - Weaponry

Within each class are multiple skills/spells/weapons. First, you choose a class. Say I chose the Mind class, I would essentially have a mage type character model, and all skills within the Mind class can be trained at half the cost of those skills outside my chosen profession. So by choosing mind, there are more things within the mind class that I want. You start with a total of (could change) 170 skills points. You can spend them in any of the classes, and essentially create a completely unique character to complement your playstyle. Maybe I use half my points for some spells, then train for katana and a fusion rifle. Maybe I train most in Body as a ninja type character with some buff spells from Mind and a camo suit from Power.

You'll be able to save multiple customizations of your character, so you can switch character types after you die (if you want).

Now that you have your character, you're placed on one of 3 teams. Your teams objectives are to a) build up your village and b) destroy the other 2 teams villages. When a village dies, the players from the village have a few options:
Spectate: duh?
Rogue: Team up with up to 2 other people from the dead village to form a rogue group. Rogue groups can win the entire map if they collect all 3 pendants (pendants provide extra options to villages and can be stolen by other villages/rogues) and get them to the center tower (1 pendant can be carried by each person is a group of 3, 2 pendants in a group of 2, and all 3 can be carried in a group of one, so teamwork is essential to rogue groups).
Mercenaries: Players hired by other villages on a resource wage (resources are used for village building, but for mercenaries, they are used for the special mercenary skills)

End game results when a) 1 village is left standing or b) a rogue group has captured all 3 pendants and taken them to the center tower.

I'll be happy to answer any questions :) If you're a storyline kind of person, everything in the mbp universe will be story driven (and can be found in the mbp fiction section). We will have a fan story section in the near future, and any new ideas found in them will be possibly implemented into the game. New game aspects for each stage after release will be realized and voted on by the community.

Sorry for the long read, but i hope this clears some stuff up!

Oh yeah... forgot to answer one of the questions... MBP will be FPS with an RPG like character system. Mostly first person, but we're considering making swordplay 3rd person (or maybe ninjas in general... a skill or something, out of body experience, who knows =P). Multiplayer will come first, and single player will be made later if possible.
