This thread is for optical allusions and random things that just mess with your brain cells.

Which way is the image spinning?

spinningdancer_54.gif

After determining which way it's spinning, look below.
Instead of concentrating on her chest, concentrate on the woman's movement. If you see her spinning clockwise, that means you're using the right side, or more creative side of your brain. If she appears to be moving counter-clockwise, then that means the left side, or more logical side of your think muscle is superior.

After having mastered this in a previous thread, I can happily say she spins whichever way I want her to. Even head over heels.

Apparently I'm not logical.

EDIT: Sh*t, she just switched... what the heck.

I remember when I posted this in one of the early Image Dumps, the thread exploded into lol wuts.

I see her spinning clockwise generally but I can switch it to counterclockwise if I concentrate on it.

Hint for people who can't get it: it's all in the feet

i only see her spining clockwise i dont even have a clue how she appears to be moving the other way

stupid gemma is stupid

She seems to spin clockwise for me. Although each time as I read the spoiler quote and think about it (while not looking at the picture) then she switches in my peripheral vision. She stays that way for a bit when I look at the picture directly as well but then goes back to clockwise. Maybe because when I'm really thinking about what the quote says I'm using my logical side more.

Anti-clockwise at first but I can make her spin either way. I remember it from before.

Pretty cool audio illusion

no matter what I try, I can only see it clockwise. Does that mean the right side of my brain doesn't work?

I did this, then looked directly at it, then it spun counter-clockwise o_O

It means you have a empty mass on the left side of your skull. If you look on the bright side you could smuggle drugs. Who would think to look inside your skull?

To the left to the left...

because women have no rights.

*Ducks and runs while laughing maniacally*

I can't possibly see her spinning clockwise. It's funny, I keep thinking it's blatantly obvious she's spinning counter-clockwise, and that if people can't see it they must be stupid, but obviously that that's not the case. Quit messing with my head.

HOOOOOOly crap.

When I just look at the picture, I see it spinning clockwise, but when I read something (like the spoiler in the first post) I can see her spinning the opposite direction in my peripheral vision.

I thought I might have seen her spinning anti-clockwise once at first, but now I can only see her going clockwise.

As a point of interest, I am left handed, which would also suggest that my right brain is dominant.

Despite all that though, anyone who knew me, including myself, would tell you I have a very logical mind. Case in point, I'm studying Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computing for A-level.
So I normally take it with a pinch of salt when people try to say which side of my brain is "dominant", based off some random test. (No offense Kami :))

You should always take it with a pinch of salt. "Left brain, right brain" is the kind of unproven pop-psychology that's relegated to women's magazines and internet personality surveys.

you just have to imagine if u look under her or from above.
above = clock wise.
under = counter clock wise.

for me the first thing comes in mind is clock wise.

I keep coming back to try. No matter what I do I just can't see it counter-clockwise. I can't even see how you could possibly see it like that.

I am definitely a very creative person, so it makes sense according to the OP. I am somewhat of an artist, creative writer, musician and an inventor.

basically, all my stuff is Jerry-rigged.

Same, I shit brix D:

This has been posted millions of times before. It has nothing to do with which side of the brain you're using, it's just about where on the picture you are focusing.

I'm sure that the picture switches rotation every 15 seconds or so.

It's not were you look or anything. It just spins clockwise no matter what. It's impossible to see it the other way, it doesn't even make sense for her to spin the wrong way, so I don't see how that is 'logical', even if it was possible. I think that, for her to spin the wrong way (counter-clockwise), you'd have to be pretty creative, so the 'creative' part doesn't make sense to me. It's backwards.

This pisses me off.

lol

It has jack shit to do with sides of your brain. The idea that left brain = logical and right brain = creative is a stupid oversimplification/misunderstanding of brain hemispheres.

But people do have either a stronger logic or creative thinking part of their brain, though, right?

No, it can look like it spins either way and I can even switch it manually. Well, I can decide whether it's spinning one way or the other.

look, I made some GIFs

here it is spinning clockwise
spinningdancer_54.gif

and here it is spinning counter-clockwise
spinningdancer_54.gif

damn. They look 100% identical to me. Both are synced and spin clockwise in my stupid brain.

Actually, it's just the same picture twice. But they still can definitely appear to spin in either direction. For a few seconds earlier I was looking at the two next to each other and saw them spin in opposite directions.

I tried all kinds of stuff. Crossing my eyes, looking at it sideways and upside down, looking at it through my periferal vision, looking at various parts of it... I gave up.

I just wanted to see it go the other way.

OH

I ****ING DID IT. I held my head upside down for a while and it started going the other way. and when I put my head the right way, it stayed like that for a while.

Yup, that works, I did it again, but this time it didn't stay. Anyway, try it.
