1. make awesome game everyone loves
2. make a low-quality rushed empty sequel with the same name but with a 2 on it so people will think its as good as the first one when its actually more of the same with new colors so we can make MOAR PROFIT
3. repeat step 2

I'm really not sure as to what you mean by this. You haven't even played Mirrors Edge so why are you jumping to these conclusions? I mean, yeah, there are bad sequels out there, but theres also alot of really, really good second games. Could this not work the same as HL2 did to HL1, or was that a rushed empty sequel with the same name with a 2 on it so people will think its as good as the first when its actually more of the same with new colours so we make more profit?

I don't know where you're going with this one. It seems to me you have a problem with sequels.

I was refering more to EAs usuall approach with sequels...not the game itself.

It's ok as long as we dont get a blatant cliff-hanger endings to the first two games.

I don't really like when a game is "planned" to be a trilogy from the start, I can't help but feel developers don't do the best job they can because they want to save stuff for the next game.

Sports games and The Sims aren't exactly the be-all and end-all of the gaming world. I can't think of much else that I can really class as notable as HUUURFFF THIS SEQUEL SUKD, but then I don't play many games these days.

As long as they aren't the equivalent of the Matrix sequels I'm down with it.

I agree except in cases where it is exceptionally well thought-out, like with Mass Effect. It seems as though the ME trilogy will be plotted perfectly or at least that is the feeling I got when I completed the first one. Since little to nothing is known about the second and thrid titles, this leaves me feeling pretty good about things.

I never got the impression there was a good story for everything I have read about Mirror's Edge. I can't imagine it being that interesting to hold people's attention over 3 games, but you never know I suppose.

Oh come on. Could someone please just make a unique, original game and leave it at that?

Heck DICE also mentioned they would use some ideas from mirror's edge in future battlefield games O_o

They meant sliding and other movements, possibly even a whole new system to replace ye olde 3 stances.

Implementing the movements of Mirror's Edge could really help move forward the whole FPS genre. Right now control is very limited to move your view and jump. For example, after playing a lot of MGS4, moving to COD4 felt so restricted after being used to wealth of movements available when controlling Snake.

Bah, why do they even bother announcing this shit before the first game is even out? It just makes them look like fools when the first game ends up utterly failing and putting their trilogy hopes in the shitter.

Case in point: Too Human.

MOAR LIKE NOT ENOUGH HUMAN AMIRITE.

Expect lack luster expansion packs in between the sequels.

It helps to keep your mouth shut whether the game is a flop or not. If the game is a massive success and people want more, those people will love you when you announce a sequel. Doing so before the first game has even launched is silly.

How about we make sure the first game is good, then go from there?

They're obviously extremely confident that this new approach to FPS mechanics is going to be wholly successful, so they've just went ahead and budgeted for two more games.

Not that there's anything wrong with the way Mirror's Edge has been presented so far, but they're probably after something to rival Bioshock's success and planned sequels.

EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME

Aye, but in the case of Mirror's Edge I'd say it has far more potential to be good compared to Too Human. Too Human wasn't exactly offering a lot more to gaming than say; Mass Effect was. (RPG, Combat).

Mirror's Edge has this great potential to deliver an FPS that's really a leap and bound (OMFG HAHAHAHAHAHAHA) above most with the gameplay offered.

But, yes, equally it has the potential to be a big steaming coiler.

Im not sure about how good of an idead this is. . .

i guess we'll just have to
TAKE A LEAP OF FATIH!!!!!!

hahahaha
