ok, the moderator is going hardcore. Almost going to far, not fair!!

<-- >=(

That thread about the dude with HL2 dreams...

1. It was on topic, it was about HL2, and I thought it was interesting. So might have other people.

2. This is general Half-Life2, and why cant dreams about half-life 2 be a "general hl2" thing?

The job of a moderator is to make sure that the content is suitable, not go closing threads at will, common, LET US HAVE A VOICE!!

I understand if something is being repeating 100x, but that dream thing was freakin new... nothing thats been posted a hundred times, dammit, I wrote a long ass reply, only to get a "sorry, been blocked yo!"

bah!!

I say you let us make our GENERAL HL2 THREADS at WILL, not to have them closed down because YOU dont like it.

If its been posted 10000x, understandable. But really. bah!

Moderators need guidlines for perfect level of authority. Guidlines are professional, and reasonable. Maybe everyone here should come up with some things thats fair, and people can be satisfied, and at the same time, make freakin threads that are on topic, and not have them closed only because mod doesnt think it needs a thread.

Sometimes someone could say one little thing that spawns millions of ideas in people minds, and responses, so just cause it doesnt seem like its worthy of a thread, doesnt mean its not good!! give threads a chance before closing. bah!

If you have any serious concerns you should be private messaging/e-mailing a forum admin/moderator instead of posting this publically. Your chosen course of action is not the appropriate one.

the forums is too busy to be flooded with crap.
and then there is the hardcore guys who freak out if something has been posted before.

If you don't like it exo you could always use another forum. I know what you're saying though. I've had a couple of threads deleted becuase they have been talked about at length before but I understand why. These forums have been here for a long time, and as both you and I are headcrabs and therefore new I would take the mod's advice and search for relevant threads before posting new ones. That goes for the author of the tread you were talking about too. I'm not flaming you. Just trying to help you understand is all :)

Bah. Typos are the bane of my existance :x

I think that this is something that is ok to post publicly...

I, for one, sympathize with the mods here and I think that they do a pretty good job overall. They do a great job killing all the repeat threads (delay, NV/ATI, steam, etc). But I do think that exo8 has a point here...

In my opinion, the repeat threads, flame wars, and blatantly off-topic threads should be pretty much the only threads that get closed by mods...if nobody's using a thread, the natural course of the forum will drop it out of sight!

I have a feeling it should be closed.

exoeight: Your point is worth arguing (I never saw the post), but consider rec's words: private messaging is the way to go with something like this. I would even consider doing this with individuals as well. Keeps the flame potential down, and shows respect for your fellow board members/mods. I am not saying you indended to be disrespectful, but I think rec makes an excellent point that could be applied accross the board.

my 2 cents.

Although I didn't close it I will say that the moderators do have guidelines. They're in a sticky thread on a hidden staff board.

The moderator who closed / moved it to deleted threads board might bring it back after reading this, he might not but this board is starting to get flooded with a lot of random threads now so moderators are being firmer with the quality of content.

In another weeks time this board will be totally flooded so we'll have to be stricter than we are now. That's just the way it goes when you're trying to control a large community. You're never going to please everyone.

Incorrect, surprising as it is, we've had a few "Half-Life 2 dream" threads. The only thing that was relevant to Half-Life 2 about it was just that, the fact it mentioned Half-Life 2... a game that hasn't even been released yet. Where's the discussion in that?

I say you let us make our GENERAL HL2 THREADS at WILL, not to have them closed down because YOU dont like it.

I love this. There's been so many people here that think that this forum is a place where you can speak (or type) freely. Incorrect- you agreed to our policies when you signed up, and will abide by our rules. We are instated as moderators to decide what is acceptable and what is not, and that is what I did.

If you had a problem with this, the best solution would have been to PM me, not make it public. As somewhat of an offender on this board yourself exo, I don't think this was the best option.

He's right. :cheese:

Well it didn't take long for this to start turnin' ugly. Where'd that riot shield go..

I said starting to, it's not at "ugly" yet, heh. I guess I'm readin' between the lines, scarred by one too many flame wars erupting up all of a sudden. :p Could also be the sleep deprivation.

Shutup man! You don't know what you're talking about! You **** ***** *****!

:cheese:

arent you the suckup towards the admins and mods. Vanthem made a decent mistake, enough time spent on it. We got better things to do, like instead of flaming mods and stuff, we can be scouring the internet an any new info for the "supposed" anouncement thats supposed to take place today.

hehehe

hmm

a dream thread is quite cool..

I had a deam about HL2.. didnt see it.. but it doesnt really sound like it needed to be deleted...

<laughs> j00 n00b0rz! j00 shutup! I r |337!

... Bleh.. now I feel dirty, Trantjd. Curse you. ;(

Vanthem made a decent mistake, enough time spent on it.
Thanks, man. It's easier to understand when you factor in that I really haven't slept for oh.. about 3 days now.

The thread was actually peacefully sinking towards the bottom after Saltpeters post.

I had a Half Life 2 forum dream that all the posts actually had something to do with Half Life 2 and not about Delays and System Requirements and Ati this and nVidia that... man that was a great dream.. oh well, back to reality!! :D

and now its ravaging up to the top! MOVE ASIDE POSSIBLE DELAY!!! IM GOING TO THE TOP!! ;)

I just figured that quoting a post about flames coming from nowhere and responding with a flame that came from nowhere would be pretty obvious sarcasm...and in case it wasn't, I followed it up with a nice big :cheese: .

Oh well, I'm through with bumping this thread...

EDIT: Who was sucking up, btw? and how?

And I thought it was funny, heh. Maybe the monitor radiation is just gettin' to us all.

To quote the forum rules from another forum I'm a regular at:

This is NOT a democracy! It's a benevolent dictatorship!

If you don't like it, you're free to leave!

That's at least my tuppence on the matter!

yes the :cheese: smilie is an obvious sarcasm flag.

I usually don't give any indicators though, and see who gets the most confused by any sarcastic coments I make :D
