This new mod is called Silent War
This is the year 2045 and it is a world lacking only one thing... democracy. Everything is controlled by the government now, where you go all the way down to what you eat. Everyone is implanted with a GPS locator in thier skull, with no way to remove it. Everyone works and gets what they need to survive.

You get home from work, go in your apartment and turn on the lights. There is a shadowy figure standing in the corner. Automatically you turn to bolt for the door and saftey. A female voice commands, "Stop, come here a sit down... NOW" You turn and find yourself staring down the barrel of a .75 Recoilless pistol. As you sit on the couch in front of your TV she asks you one question that will change your life forever... "Are you happy here, now?" You try to answer, but you can't. You can't remember thet last time you felt joy in your life at all. Even your current partner wasn't as pleasurable as the one before her. Oh well, the computer matchings show who will create the strongest children and only they are allowed to breed.

You here three sharp knocks on the door and a voice more machine then man shouts "This is the Fedral Authority, Open your door immediatly!" The woman infront of you says "Well, now you have no choice," and hands you her .75 pistol. She walks calmly to the front door, whips a laser carbine from under her cloak and fires twice. The stench of ozone and burnt flesh cascades into the room. You are sudenly sick and the urge to throw up is overwhelming.

She walks back to you and says "We must hurry, We don't have much time before the soldiers show up... and if you feel the need to adress me, you may call me Michelle, understood? Good, Lets go!"

You run out of your apartment to the elevator. As you reach it the door opens revealing two regulars (F.A. Soldiers). They quickly scan the area and shoot the woman... Michelle. She is wounded, but not fataly then the soldiers turn on you. What will you do, pull out the .75 and kill them, or run and leave your guide to die?

This is the first of many choices you will be allowed to make, and each one will have an impact on the next level. For example, if you shoot the soldiers, you will have to fight harder to get where your going, but you will get there faster (she will guide you). If you run, the only thing you have is a vague location on your HUD, the downtown area. This is a heaven for the Resistance, but they will not trust you until you complete a mission, one that they assign, one certain to be difficult. Also if you stay with her this MAY be the start of a romance between the characters.... which will lead to easier missions, and a more rapid advance through the ranks system of the Resistance (we assume she is a higher ranking member, but we never know for sure).

NOTE: Later on they remove the GPS locator. Now you are invisible to the government.

Weapons:
.75 Recoiless
Laser Carbine
Laser Rifle
Acid Gun
Shotrifle (Overbarrel shotgun, underbarrel Rifle)
Sniper Rifle (thinking more like something out of HALO then the generic Blaser, or Scout)
SMG
Standard Rifle (Bullpup "modern" looking rifle, it would have high recoil, but be a hard hitter.)
More later

Anyways... This is the basic concept. Any questions/ideas/HELP!! would be nice. If this gets good enough replies, ill ask for a mod team.

sounds like a cool idea to me :)

You'll need to develop the ideas some more of course.

I will continue the story if there is enough interest, but i dont want to wate my time on a crappy mod

if you think the idea is good then its not a crappy mod...and you develop some experience. If you are making it and you realise then that its not fun, you either need to change it (be flexible) or scrap it...

Sounds good so far.

Sounds like a very good idea basing the whole game on decisions you make. If you can make it, it will be good, but it takes a lot more work to give people that amount of freedom

Reading your Mod idea I came up with a concept for the Federal Authority Officer you mentioned.

They had more robotic voices than human, so I decided to make them cybernetacly enhanced humans.

Robotic arms with control chips attched to their spinal cord and at the base of the brain.

I'm hoping this is a very big coincidence.

I'll point you in the direction of my sig, where you'll notice some similarities with what we've just read (see the whole hl2.net thread).

[Edit] Apart from the first and the last paragraph the text differs. Just out of interest, apart from storywriting what other side of the Mod would you be working on?

It does sound a bit like Crispy's mod, although I have to say I don't care for it that much. Especially for a multiplayer game. Doesn't sound too interesting.

I think alot of mods are missing that thing that seperates them from everything else. Your mod, Kebean PFC, sound's like it would be a team-fortress styled version of HL2 DM.

Sorry crispy, i did not realise there was another mod on the same topic, if you want ill drop it. I was gonna do weapon models.
P.S. Mine was not gonna be cell shaded, and the story was going to lead the player into a forest.

Sounds like a hit brother. The possibilities the concept holds are immense, I can see it now. Also creating organizations, tactical squads and so on is interesting and fun. I do a lot of writing myself and find myself constructing entire living worlds on paper. The languages, the current time; minute details like that find their way into my writing. I respect your writing ability, although there were a few typos and what not, but you sure know how to distribute your writing.

It would love to help you in any way that I could. Like I said previously, I can write and I can also model weapons and other possible props. And I can design levels. Plus I have a few other skills that could be useful in the future; video editing, web page design and digital photography.

yeah, branching storylines are something we all want to see i think. at least i do. you should go ahead with it. ;)

Yeah I only know of one branching storyline mod currently in developement, there might be more but I would love to see yours come to life it sounds really good.

This is based on the choice that you made to keep your guide, Michelle alive...

You whip out the .75 and pull the trigger. The round tears tears through the first soldiers chest. The second turns to look at you, as though in disbelief. The second shot blows off his head. What have you gotten yourself into, you wonder. Michelle says, "Thankyou, now if you would be so kind as to pick me up, I will help you get to the resistance." "Ok then, i just saved you, why would i leave you here now?"

You pick her up and walk to the stair case. On the way down you see two FAOs on the way up. You carry her over one shoulder and bring up the .75 with the other. Two shots, two kills and you continue down the staircase. Up above, FA helicopters are circiling the apartment complex. Michelle yells, "The alley to the left!" You follow her directions and walk down a long dark alley. Halfway down a shadow detaches itself from the wall. "How much yuo want for her?" What?" you respond. "You head me, how much you want for the bitch!?" "She isn't on the market," you respond.

Desicion #2 Do you shoot him (you are running low on .75 ammo) or you knock him out (.75 buttstrike). If you kill him you anger his gang, and they oppose you later on, but you score points with Michelle. If you knock him out, he will remember you and attack you later.

You chose to knock him out. "Thanks again," she says, "I am begining to work up a rather sizable debt." "Don't worry, its nothing you wont be able to repay," you jest back. A small smile starts on her face, which you just begin to realize looks quite beutiful. "You may wish to keep going, by the way, what is your name?" "Oh my name is Isaac."

I have to go to bed the end for now

The Citadel Utopia will not be a branching storyline as you described but the reverse. Several playable characters whose storylines all have an impact on the overall timeline. This is richly inspired by reading the Neuromancer trilogy by William Gibson, so fans of his work will understand how satisfying it is when everything is comes together at the end of the reading (or in this case playing) experience.

As far as I'm concerned everyone is entitled to make a Mod based on their own ideas. Seeing as this is obviously a coincidence I'm in no mind to try to stop you from following your creative instinct, but I will say that you need to think a lot about the timline for the story. Over how big a period will it take place? If you are going to maximise the amount of branches then I'd suggest keeping it as low as 24hrs, any longer with the amount of possible branches you seem to be including would be a huge amount of work.

I have the horrible feeling you're not a coder, as all coders know that branching storylines are a right pig to code.

LOL you are right i am no coder, most of the decisions will be made in the beginning and after that it will follow a set path. My best friend is coder and i know this mod will be a bitch, but if i can get a good team together we can work on this and get it done.
