Mod team needed

Well here it is my idea for a hl2 mod, and i need a crew. Basically everything is needed, although modlers are needed more atm as thats basically all that can be done. Plus its universal, as if HL2 takes forever the mod can be ported over to another engine.
So here it is multiplayer hl2 with bullet time.

Yes i know the way you are thinking it will never work, but I have figured out how to get it to work, so what i need is a team. Once we get the ball rolling, we can reveal info on how it will work.

Mostly thats all I have fleshed out I need the team to help decided what kind of theme the mod should have as well as othe ideas.

So if you are intersted or need more info PM me, and in the meantime im going to start working on the models and textues.

Well I was about to reply to mrBadger that adding it was a "terrible idea" was unnecessary and kind of mean... but then I read it. No, he's right, that is a terrible idea.

the terrible idea seems to be the fact there isn't an idea there.. a blind mod, no planning nothing, apart from bullet time (dear god I'll be glad when the Matrix is forgotton forever)

its not a horrible idea at all, just becuase when you invision evyer1 in bullet time, that doest mean thats going to be how it will play out

That sounds like you want to do a mod (nowt wrong with that) but that you pretty much just thought of doing one and have probably just seen the third matrix film and seen some scene you'd like to put in your mod. You've got nothing there to attract anybody, no assurances, no plan, nothing but what sounds like its going to be a matrix type clone

The trouble is, figuring something out is a lot different from doing it. There's nothing wrong with thinking of idea's that can be added later on if it works out. but basically putting all your eggs in one basket is a bad idea. And bullet time is far far too overused, it wont attract people to it, it'll turn them away.

Do you have any plan atall, who would do what exactly down to the smallest detail, do you have concepts done, storyline etc. If you take on a team at this point, they'll all be sat around waiting for the concepts to be done, people will get bored, leave, mod wont get far

That basically confirms the above, that you've not thought this through atall past wanting to use bullet time, and that bullet time and multiplayer are the only idea's you have


Don't take it the wrong way, im not insulting you or being rude, just showing you how it likely looks to others and why you've got a negative response. Granted, your idea might seem new to you, but chances are Badger, Cheapass or Pendragon have probably seen the same thing said countless times before now, the same idea's and the same way of doing it.

Your best bet would be to go away and come up with a solid mod idea, do as much as you can planning it and getting it just right, then if you need a team, look for those you immediately need, concept artists for example. Others can't really do what you'll be wanting without someone to get the designs down on paper first.. It's different if you do it all yourself cause its all in your head, but for others to know what to do they need something there infront of them so things keep in order without all ending up looking different and out of place.

Yeah, thanks Fenric, and yes, I have seen this idea over and over and over and over... it does my head in... it's by far the most common idea for a mod :/

Anyway... yeah, also 1 Tip:

Don't use Internet slang like 'WTF' or 'every1' in an idea, it looks very un-professional, oh yeah, and don't insult people much more experienced in this area than you. Ok?

aight but this is for fun, if it was a job i would be more concernted but even if it ends being just me working on it, it is just for fun so even if it dosent get past concept art stage its still fun for me at least

anyways, I say go for it, but try to develope your idea more before asking for help. People wont be as inclined to join a team if they have no idea what there getting into.

well thats my 2 cents... and btw I've been around in this forum since hl2 was announced... i just don't post very much.

edit: i also agree that fenric knows what hes saying... you wont go wrong following that advice.
