Models missing? (Please Help!)

Hi all.

I've had Half-Life 2: Collecters Edition since the day it came out, and its always run fine on my old computer.

Well recently I got a new computer, and I installed it on there. I'm still using my same Steam account.

Well, its been working fine (better then ever on the new system), until I got to Ravenholm.

When I reached a loading screen about half-way through, the game crashes and tells me a model was missing. (Sorry, couldn't get down which one). So I restarted my Steam, and tried again. This time it worked fine (I'm thinking "thats odd"). So I continue through the game fine until I get to the buggy part, as soon as I reach the loading screen, my game crashes and says:

"Missing models/props_wasteland/barricade002a.mdl"

I restarted steam and tried again, and it crashed again! So now it doesn't work.

Does anyone know what the cause of this is? (Obviously my game can't find the models) and anyway I might fix it?

Thanks in advance! :(

I am having the same problem, only with different models. Like he said, any help would be appreciated.

If you have models missing then check FAQs or search, e.g. on the steam website:

In your case you will need to validate your Halflife 2 files, by running steam then going to start ---> run and putting in the following command
steam://validate/220

Wait till steam validates your files and fixes your errors, then go back and play.

Just tried that, it validated them.

I ran it, and it still crashed.... :(.

Anything else I can do?

That sounded like it would work too, Thanks anyway :(.

What are you system specs? I attached a picture of the missing model error I had. I don't know if it's the same one or not. I had to downgrade my ati driver to 4.12's to fix it.

Yeah, thats what mine looks like (except the box issn't cool looking like that :p).

My specs are:

Intel P4 640 3.2.GHz
ATI X800XL 256MB PCI-Express
1Gb DDR2 SDRAM

try reverting to the catalyst 4.12 drivers. that's what fixed mine.

I'll give it a try and let you know, thanks!

Edit: Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how would I go back to that driver? Would I simply download it? Thanks.

Sometimes, if you install an old map package, it'll save some outdated models of the current ones.

Just go into your models folder, and delete which ever model is screwing you over. The models for the actualy game are in a gcf or something...

Now the wheel of the Combine APC model is crashing it.....

The only models in the models folder are "ShaderTest" models. There isn't anything else. And I haven't downloaded any map pack as far as I'm aware (unless Steam did it on its own....) :(
