I'd help you but I've been told several times that all my opinions and observations regarding moderating are completely incorrect and that I should STFU and die.

Don't let people use you. In my first few weeks when i'd close a thread i'd get PM's from people demanding I re-open it (Even if it was closed for a good reason)

You'll get confused and the weak-willed would re-open the thread.


Another tip, use your own judgement. If someone is spamming like Opera at a nude beach then ban his ass!
 
Ban 1 out of every ten members as your first act to show everyone you aren't ****ing around. You will gain respect of your peers, and the rest of the members will cower in fear.

If it's a small site, try not to be a nazi about rules, you can let some things slide and still keep good order. On larger sites, it's necessary to enforce rules pretty strictly. Use your judgment.

It seems pretty small, only about 400-500 members.

Well i only compared it to this site and a couple of others.

One final word of advice, just because you're a moderator dosen't make you above the law or higher than anyone else.

Just be your normal self when things are fine and only take action when neccassary.

Cheers Bliink, Danimal, Sulks and any other mods that have applied their thoughts and tips, I was hoping for a little input from Munro, he's probably got better things to do. I thank all of you for your support. All your thoughts have been taken into consideration. I now have what it takes to be a well liked and dedicated moderator!

I'm gonna reply to that email, soon as i can.

Any more thoughts and tips are still welcome. I will check back here and too see you all from time to time.
