Mods, mods and errm more mods!

Ok, just want to discuss the issue of mods. After we have all played the single-player, had a blast on the multiplayer the topic will come round to mods. Mods will make this game last for years! The game will make itself a classic, the mods will keep people playing for years to come!

Now I really hope that we will get groups of teams working on good quality mods - rather than half-assed attempts! Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to get our hands on many mods as the top modding teams already have their hands on the SDK (supposodly)

I can't wait to see what the skilled modding groups will be able to do with this new game!

The best is yet to come!

well, im also sharing your point of view, because there are good mods (ie CS, DoD, TFC), and then there are BAD mods (action half life, natural selection, etc.) so yeah, i do hope people will spend more time on HL2 mods:E

p.s.- HL2 ISNt going to need any mods to make it the best game of 2003,2004,2005... the mods are just the icing on the already fabulous, wonderful, cake, that is HL2

i don't like it because it's boring, it has style, but its boring to me.

i wouldn't say action is a good mod, but Ive been playing it off and on for years, and i wouldn't call it bad.

I'm hoping for Natural Selection 2. Though Last Great War, Over The Top and Sven Co-Op 2 sound good as well.

There will always be a lot of half-assed attempts at mods. Maybe some people here will even contribute to that number.

CS may have been special a few years ago, but now it's nothing more than one of the many counter terrorist mods, plus some cheaters and a whole lot of 12 year old lamers.

i like natural selection. its really unique and i think its a breath of fresh air into halflife, from all the war mods. i probably like it because i like strategy games.

ive hated cs on and off for a while, but im pretty sure now im gonna stick with liking it.

the cheaters and lamers you see were mostly cuz of the 1.3 era.

give cs another chance when steam is finalized and the new ainticheats are 100% operational; that will make them "go away"'

oh, and i frickin love ns.

im not saying that Natural Selection is a bad mod, i wasgoing more along the lines of that i, and alot of people i know dont like it, while have a BUNCH of other mods for HL (like 30 diff mods. minimum lol)

I've already given 1.6 a chance through Steam, like all the other cs'es, fun for a while, some cool new stuff, but walking the same damn route every damn round really bores me fast. I don't have that with DoD or NS, it's just too repetitive. The leveldesign is poor at best imho.
But that's my opinion.

Natural Selection is one of the most original mods for HL.

As for HL2, there will obviously good mods made by amateurs that'll come out of nowhere and gain popularity, as with the first one. *coughseesigcoughgagretch*

Well I have my own thoughts as to which mod will be cool

Anyway NS was very cool but it gets boring after a while, I started the day it was released. I played 2.0 a couple of times then got sick of it.

team dependent games are only fun with good teams. NS is great other then that. It and the specialist are by far the most modified mods and impressive peices of work in the hl mod community. CS is great fun game but its not as big a jump from the ordinary.

I like NS, but I don't play it anymore. I got bored with the amount of time that can go on with nothing but one stupid ass alien attacking after another or having an onos beat the shit out of 4 guys and there's nothing you can do. On the other hand, CS IS a great mod. It's not about being original. It's about making something that a lot of people already like and doing it better than anyone else. I think they did that.

Now, with that out of the way. What mod are you guys looking forward to the most? There's so many new mods coming out that I have no idea which one to try when I get HL2, and I sure as hell can't try them all.

Eternal Silence and Versus sounds very nice, and of course my own mod Malin (clicky in the sign). All the mods are very special and unique.
