you know what i speak of. . mod's that look better than the game it's modding. but because the hobo's making it have to deal with some retarded thing they call "life", never gets finished.

Any you wished never got canned?
 
That Western/Cowboy one for Source and I haven't heard much from Ham Jam war thingy either.

Edit: Ham & Jame is still alive just reaallllyyy slow progress: http://www.hamandjam.org/ - Still can't find the Cowboy Western mod.

ahh! life!, my old arch enemy!

as for the question it's not a source mod but Project zelda online for Halo pc apears to be canned even though some people say it isn't... such an awesome looking mod:(
 
Gundam Universe for Quake 3. . .yes i freaking know it's still be developed supposedly. . it jut hast been updated since last march. . .
 
Sven Coop 2. Although it hasn't really died, it's just put on pause for an undetermined amount of time 'till Svencoop 3.5 is finished.
 
He's serial.

Jurassic Rage. It's not really dead, but it's been switched over to the UE3 engine or something.

I don't know any mods that died actually... Accept the mods to make a duke 3d source... What a shame. :(

Completely bypassing the part where that isn't dead, (I've been busy with bigger fish) the difference between the two is, of course, that even if my project was dead, my project only began a few months ago and hasn't wasted the lives or time of anyone - you might say it's the exact opposite of, say, a mod like Dreamscape, which has been going on for more than 2.5 years and got a lot of people excited, only to collapse under it's own weight and stupidity. But I appreciate you thinking about me. <3

Anyways, to contribute to this thread. Here's a few more mods that I wish did not die:
* Yorick's Gears of War ripoff mod, announced while he was the project manager for Dreamscape.
* Yorick's recently announced mod (considered as bigger fish, but predicted to die very soon)

For the sake of being nice, I won't make a lot of bullet points listing exactly why Dreamscape is a dead mod. It's a courtesy that I won't extend more than once.

If you actually read my post, I said that it isn't dead. Furthermore, it isn't a Gears of War ripoff. That's like saying any third person game is a ripoff of Max Payne. It duplicates the camera style from RE4 and Gears of War, but the gameplay is quite different. And I don't see what being project manager has to do with it at all?

Nice try, but that project isn't mine. It belongs to someone else. It would be pretty funny for you to explain to him why you (and only you) predict it to die soon.

Yeah, it's sad that Western Revenge died. You had a nice amount of publicity (PC Gameplay article).

I happen to know the ex-main coder of Western Revenge, killgore, quite well, and he even told me at the time that I could betatest as soon as things were decently finished. I was so excited :p

In the MI mod section of hl2world, there just seems no action in it for 2 months. why isn't there updates? D:

Unless School has gotten in the way I guess. They didn't say anything offical, but thats my guess.

They could be pulling a BM:S on us, and just are not telling us what there doing.

I don't know if it's dead or not but they havn't updated since January

It's not dead, we just haven't released a lot yet. More's coming soon.

We haven't gone anywhere.
 
That mod where you had VGUIs where you could buy loads of stuff through it. Pretty much a Source-Based RPG. Forgot the name.

Also, God Damned Undead would have grown out to be a really fun mod. Kinda like ZM, but without the ZM :p

Oh and I'll miss sourceracer :(
