Monitor & stress test question

First off i'll list my Specs

3400 AMD 64 Bit
KV8SE Delux
1 GIG kinston DDR
x800xt Platinum
LG Flatron EZ T910BU

Thats about the key ones... anyway~

I did the stress test and my average FPS at the end was never higher then 60, i thought i should get higher so i was investigating a bit, an i noticed my Monitor was set on 60 Hertz, now the real question is, Is the setting for hertz, right now, 60, the maximum FPS you can acheive? so this would effect my stress test result?

if not, i guess im hooped at 60 fps lol

well first, your monitor can handle some good hz rates. i would download refreshforce and run it.

if your monitor driver is installed or recognized in windows this should auto detect all the highest refresh rates your monitor can handle. 60hz is bad for your eyes as well. your monitor can do 1600x1200@75, you should take advantage of that. (so then if you were to run a 1600x1200 resolution, you would get 75 fps max with vsync on)

anyway after you do that, your framerates will improve depending on the resolution.

now if you want to eliminate the cap altogether, make sure in ATI control panel that VSYNC in DIRECT3d options is set to application controlled, and NOT always on. then in CS:S go to options video, advanced and disable vsync there too. just remember by disabling vsync you will get screen tearing which may or may not bug you.

BUT since you have a good monitor id recommend running refreshforce, and leaving vsync on.

ok i have a different control pannel then you, i have the "Catalyst Control Centre" and there are only 2 options for direct 3d, Supprt DTX Texture Formats, and Alternate pixel centre.

Nice monitor. If you want a quick fix, right click on desktop, then go to properties. Select settings tab, click advanced button, click monitor tab. Now, click the list and select your higest desired refresh rate.

Two things to note also before doing this, to ensure you don't bork it.
1. Make sure your monitor drivers are installed so windows can detect your max refresh rate.
2. Uncheck that little box below refresh rate at your own risk.
