u guys think there will be more hl2ers than csers ?????? @ multiplayer

dunno, just wanna know what you guys think about it

at first, more people will play CS, but once HL2 is out for a bit, and the inevitable patches come along, and some mods are started, HL2 will be played. Its only logical to think the HL MP community will become the HL2 MP community

Theres my answer

Yep, CS will be ported to HL2. One clone or the other :)

I think at first they will have about the same amount of players, and if and when CS2 comes out, most of the hardcore CS'ers will start playing it.

I think it's pretty obvious that CS will still be dominant at the very least until CS2 comes out.

Not gonna be ported, its gonna be CS2
Note the one clone or another. There IS gonna be a ported CS on HL2... There already is like 50 or so planned :p

well one thing is that cs is playable on a very low-end machine.. so that will probably keep it in first position for some time

after a while, hl2 (and possibly cs2) will get the upper hand tho

Umm for CS2 I do hope they just do a straight port more or less. Of course with better looking weapons, models, maps, physics, etc.

could be cool to play Dust, Aztec, etc. with the new physics, you could move crates and stuff like that...

But I would prefer a new CS, and the old as an other mod..

New stuff would be cool, and they could make maps that uses the Source engine to its limites.

You could make crates moveable in HL1 if you wanted. It's a design decision, not a technical limitation.

lol, always wanted to say that didn't you?
OK, you could make them move-able (or something), but it wasn't very realistic, they could do much more with the idea.

Nah .. I think they eventually gave up on the idea of making CS super-realistic and just went with what was fun.

cs might last a little longer, but other mods like tfc will IMO die a quick death once hl2 is out

i think CS will last because it has leagues and such to keep it going.
its just a matter of time when another game( could be CS2) dominants the HL2 mod world.

Im sick of all this ultra realistic crap, I wanna see an ultra fake mod, with stupid weapons, moon gravity, and random gameplay quirks. Ill play that for sure ;)

Counter-Strike has always been and will be the most popular online multiplayer first person shooter game. This is due to the fact that it runs on any machine these days, the gameplay is solid, and Valve is continuing to provide support and patches that add new content to it.

This is why I think more people that will play Counter-Strike for multiplayer rather than Half-Life 2. Simple and true.

If they include CS2 with HL2 (I believe they might), then HL2 will bring over a lot of CS players over to HL2.

I think CS will hold until CS2 takes the crown. I really wish we could see more about Team Fortress though, that is my real interest.

Well, I'm pretty sure CS2 won't be done in time for that to happen. Besides, they would make lots of money if they sold CS2 for even $10-15.

Snakebyte, and since you are pretty sure CS2 won't be done in time, I want you to tell us all how far in development CS2 is.

From what I've heard, CS2 has been in development for more than two years (Gabe confirmed it in May 2001).

heh, counterstrike is an amazing feat of simple gameplay with a huge community and solid engine. its survived for FIVE YEARS. NO GAME, besides maybe starcraft, has survived that long, with its userbase STILL INCREASING. simply incredible. its a combination of the engine, community, gameplay, and luck. luck is the biggest factor there.

I will wait to say if im going to be a hl2 gamer more then a cs gamer. but im really looking forward to cs2. cant wait!

Actually new reports indicate more people are playing BF1942 then CS.
At least thats what I read, though I could care less. Though I honestly do not like CS at all. I perfer Rainbow Six series and Ghost Recon and DC.

I will probably play both equally, considering Hl2 mp is better then Hl1's. I like CS alot, it changed my life for 3 years (for better or for worse I can't tell) but CS2 is hard at work and I wouldn't be surprised if valve released CS2 with HL2. If CS2 doesn't live up to my expectations then I will have no problem throwing it aside and playing Op:COIN.
