More Lord of the Rings Online Beta Keys to grab!

FYI, I got my key from the Firing Squad thing now.

that's ok cuz the new stress test is coming today so that means a lengthy update process ..last week I waited 3 hours before it had finished updating

Hrm, well I got my beta key from Turbine, activated my Turbine account and the key itself fine...

However you apparently need a COG (Codemasters) account to play, so I made one and when I attempt to activate my LOTRO subscription it tells me the beta key I have is invalid, despite the fact that it worked fine for my Turbine account!

Any ideas what I can do, as I still can't play.

Edit:

Here's what I mean;

Why on earth would they require you to have two accounts to play the game!?

I'm in the same spot as Pulse, the key doesn't work and it's driving me nuts.

I've been playing 3 days, and I'm really loving this game. It's my first MMO and I'm addicted as hell :(

i just got a key ! booyah. i hope the dl isn't big. :x

edit: okay, it's ~ 3.5gb - is it worth downloading ? like, is it decent (it seems to be, but i really have done very little reading about it) and how long does the beta last for ?

edit2: hang on, there's a stress test from today till mon, is that what my key is from ? if so, i'm not going to waste time downloading it to play.. i won't have any time to play. :/ or would i be part of that 1000 keys Pulse linked to ?

Those having problems, I don't think you need the COG account as this is the key is for the US beta. I'm in the UK.

I just created a turbine account, went in game and it worked fine.

play for min 5-6 hours in total throughout the weekend and you'll be invited back for the rest of the beta

So what does everyone think of it then?

I'd say its just average in every single way. Nothing says 'Lord of the Rings' about it, theres very little depth, the world is pretty tiny, and graphics on anything other than ultra high look like something from the year 2000.

Theres some huge talk about expansions adding new lands over the next few years, but I just dont think they'll have (and keep) enough customers to fund those promises for such an average MMORPG.

I gave up, couldn't even log-in so I'll just wait for an open beta or a free trial some time. Pretty disappointed, but to be expected during a beta I suppose.

It's pretty average. Funnily enough it reminds me of D&D Online which is made by the same company - Turbine. It seems they're one of those companies that just copies & pastes when they have a good thing.

The UI's also pretty "meh".

Sorry to just budge in here guys, but that kinda states how bad i want to play this beta. Cant get a key from anywhere at the moment.
Is there anyone here with a spare key?

Greetings

no ..even if I did have one I'd give it to someone with 2 posts to their name ..you guys (guy) are too new

I have one more key to give away for closed beta. PM me.

HL2.net vets Only (1,000+ posts OR join date before 1/1/2005 considered).

Edit: TAKEN. SORRY.

lol @ people registering just to get LOTRO keys

btw @ Javert.. I always see your avatar as an old man with a huge chin, it's not until toady that I got up close that I realized it was a panda bear, haha.

Looks interesting, will give it a try. All the beta keys for CVG have been taken up. How does this work? Do they dispense keys every week on CVG? Or is it several sites?

Been playing for the past week now and its actually growing on me.

Its a good start but it just needs more content, more life, more lore, more character choices, really just more of everything.

Just feels like Turbine have had a 'that will do' attitude to every part of the game.

anyone get to lvl 10 and participate in the monster pvp thingy yet? havent tried it yet but sounds interesting

I have. There's rarely any PvP action that I see, but there are NPC's that hold a castle to the Far East and a camp south of Tol Ascarnen.

so what do you do in this zone? details man

Does anyone know what day CVG is giving out its next keys? Been reading into the game, sounds awesome.

Well the zone is open to players who are level 40 and up. They group together and take over castles for xp/quest completions.

Likewise us monsters have quests in the Ettenmoors (either grinds or battles) that award us destiny points, which can be used to upgrade the monster, like more hp or higher defense stats.

The most fun I have was grouping up with 6 other players to raid the castle in the East. But you need close to 10 people minimum to make a dent in them.

Not to bump on purpose, but I'm sure people would like to know:
