More rumours debunked

Just for those who dont remember, On one of the many interviews with Gabe. He stated that the sept. 30th 03 date was WAY to earily even if the source hadnt been stolen. And in the same interview he also stated that it would be released this summer, 2004.

I cant remember what interview it was but it was posted here on halflife2.net. I would guess 2 months or so ago.

wow, just like all the other posted agreed, finally some competent news, although it looks like it has been on the forum for ages. anyways, 4 days till summer :D:D:D:D....

Vavle will not let us down.......

Valve will not let us down because they can't afford to. Valve said that it would be out this summer so it will be. They must get over a hundred e-mails a day from people saying stuff like "I will never buy a game from you guys because you guys are always lying" lol.

Valve has gone out of there way to help out fans and answer our questions about HL2. So, I think we should sit back and wait for the game to come out. I mean how much bitchen :hmph: can you do at this point? They have done all they can so far. So, I trust that Valve will deliver this time around.
:borg:

funny how many people are currently putting such faith into what valve or vivindi says, when they rarly deny or clear up rumors, and help facilitate them themselves. seems like after the e3 statement, peoples have completly forgotten the history over the past year.
and i think, after las time i checked, summer runs to sept 20, i think

Last year was a completely different set of circumstances. The game was pretty young and I think everyone realized in the back of their mind that it would never meet the Sept. 30th release date. Everyone was just too impressed with the E3 '03 video to want to accept any doubt that it wasn't gonna be done in time.

This year however we are seeing much more evidence that the game is nearing completion. Such as playable media demos and the confirmation of the game being playtested, unlike last year. I know it's hard for some of you to accept the fact that it WILL be released sometime despite all these rumors you like to bring up, but it WILL come out soon. It's not some never ending cycle of broken promises.

You have to understand that the reason valve and vivendi haven't said much about a release date is the fact that they're doing they're best to avoid being trapped into making any unrealistic statements that they'll regret like last year. They can't afford to make another mistake like that so the best thing to do is to just keep quiet about it.

So don't worry, the game will be done when it's done, they're doing their best.

this summer meaning this summer this decade? this summer this century? lol I know it doesn't mean this summer 2004

Recently there has been a rumour floating around the internet suggesting that Valve will be submitting the final version of Half-Life 2 to Vivendi in the coming weeks for publication, and that Vivendi hope to have Half-Life 2 on the store shelves this fall. [br]This has been published on a number of mainstream news sites but is just pure speculation. Just to reiterate we’ve gone straight to the source and spoken to Vivendi and Valve Software about this again for the real information. [br]Vivendi wish to state that:[br]
Valve also remains adamant that Half-Life 2 will be released this summer.
And so many people tried to discredit my email from valve that squashed this rumor.

funny how many people are currently putting such faith into what valve or vivindi says
I have 1000x more faith in valve than I do with random speculation or immature sites making up shit.

this is starting to get tiresome.. all this is useless, in hl2.net it is better than known not to believe anything related to this...except valve, and even they can be misleading... but i guess some rumours are always good, at least they keep us busy..

on the note of hl2.net i thought valve was getting rid of sierra considering the won servers went down, and sierra was bought out.

they always think vivendi is going to hold on to the game until christmas or something to hit their target market..........

based on hype alone the game could be released today and still sell WELL into and beyond the holiday season. think vivendi's gonna miss out on a few months of this cash cow?! hell no!

I agree. While you never know what stupid ideas a suit might dream up, they would probably have to be smokin the wacky tabaky if they think that this game was going to do anything but _build_ momentum up to the holiday season. Releasing it ASAP means setting up word-of-mouth among die hard gaming fans early, means creating a solid online MP prescence that is itself a feature of the game, and so on. All this stuff will peak by the holidays, not peter out by then, if they release ASAP.

That said, while I think the idea of Vivendi sitting on the finished game is pretty unlikely, it could be that Valve will decide it needs still more time. Nothing is certain till they announce gold.

21st of September officially.

Except when you're Apos.

and it starts at the 21st of JUNE, to be clear this is the timewindow where this game should be released...
