Mornington Crescent

Aww , i read that as croissant. i was severly dissapointed.

East Finchley on the northern line

EDIT: actually, I cba lol

What rules are you using?

Good God, man, it's a dangerous move announcing a game of mornington crescent and then jumping in without stating which rules you're using. It'll be chaos!

Well if it's welsh rules I'm just not playing. Those books haven't been updated since 1948 and they're a nightmare. There's no way to even get a basic Labowski-triangle into play.

Of course we are using the Welsh rules, it is I the great Evo that has started this thread is it not?

Oh god... could we at least remove the Sheep tollbooth from the board? Please?

I agree. The Welsh have really no place in this anyway, although I do have a rare 1942 version of the book. Due the consonant rationing that took place in Wales during the war, the book makes for a much more concise read, and amounts to an almost playable, even enjoyable game. However, generations of school children have drawn so many penises inside its pages, that it can sometimes be difficult to read.

Anyway, not knowing just what rules we are playing with, I shall take the plunge and join the game at Cockfosters.

edit: oh cripes, so it is Welsh rules. Well that's buggered me right up.

HOLY FUCCCKKING SHIT! What's going on HERE?!?!?!??!?!?!

Some esoteric foreign shit. It's a convoluted game that involves subway stations, I completely lack comprehension of it beyond that.

I convolute the reverb. Infrastructure station, backwards up the roundabout to ?1.00 Castle. Formulate the collaboration. Hop on the artifice. Your move, foolish sucker.

Somehow, I always think you are a Brit, even though I know you are an NCer.

Im in. Are we allowed to use the 1967 variaton rules ? It makes the game much simpler.

I've just spent far too long on the internet around them I think
Just step away in a quick, erratic fashion. Their vision is based on proper posture and elegance.

Wait shit, or is it based on silly walks?

No it's not

It would make the game more accessible to new-comers but this game was started with Welsh rules, which aren't 100% compatible with the variations of '67.
Apart from the fact that the Welsh only have a single, very old London Underground map between them all, there are too many contradictions with the '67 Proclamation (wherein the aforementioned variations were published) and thus it opens many loop-holes which would just make the game seem like an incomprehensible maelstrom of drivel and arbitrary, contrived one-upmanship. And we wouldn't want that now, would we?

I'll go easy on you.

Finsbury Park.

(P.S. I can't seem to remember, how are parallels dealt with in the Welsh rules?)

So like, I came into this thread...and was confused. Damn....UK'ers and their GAMES!

(P.S. I can't seem to remember, how are parallels dealt with in the Welsh rules?)
As far as I remember, all contradictions, contraventions and contraceptives are dealt with on an altercation-by-altercation basis with the decision usually dependent on the following:
-the offending player's progression within the game
-the offended player's professional status without the game
-the offensive player's protractor and the accuracy thereof. Bonus points are awarded if the player in question actually owns a tractor.
In the event that none of the above requirements are met, lots will be drawn and whichever player guesses closest to the number the second-youngest player (excluding those involved in the altercation in question, naturally) is thinking of will be the one whose point of view is considered the most valid within that round of the game, providing they agree to forfeit the use of the Sutherford Pentagle, the Epsley-Heath Bargain Bucket and the Sexington Exception.

If I remember correctly, the welsh rules from 1948 does not include the northern line, since it was closed for repair at the time. Damn, that robs me of my usual opening move... but cockfosters has been played, that means I must be able to play Shepherd's Bush without being penalized for indecency. So Shepherd's Bush it is. Which if I recall correctly, comes with a bonus point in the welsh ruleset.

Yes indeed it does, however under the Coal Miners' ammendment of 1982 Shepherd's Bush was removed from the map because it was seen to be a Thatcherite station.

You are indeed correct sir, however due to a hole in the boards over the door at Goodge Street, a spritely player can make a play for a Princely Interchange on the Double and back up himself to Baker Street. It's a risky move, very much depending on which direction the guards are facing at the time but it's very possible.

But as we're playing the '67, I'm going to have to make my opening gambit to Bank.

Damn that woman! Had no-one ever told her her actions had consequences?

Very well, a safe move then; Goodge Street.

Not as safe as you might think, sir!

I invoke the Harrington Spinback and make a sly non-return to Turnham Green!

How do you like them apples?

You're all berks. Every single one of you.

It's an interesting ploy, leaving Mr Rimmer in danger of finding himself in nip, but nonetheless it doesn't really effect my next move. I think I'll take a quick stroll over to Shadwell.

Shadwell, eh? You sly beggar.

Oxford Circus.

/poker face

If you have moved to Shadwell then I shall make the audacious move onto the Paris Metro by way of St. Pancras.

...what?

Seriously, you're trying to create a greek box-in this early in the game? You know what that always leads to.

Fine, whatever- the standard response to a Harrington-style box-in is to play Gerrard's Cross -all change over at Paddington! Which means the next play by some has to be Dollis Hill... *sigh*

According to your very own rules Mr Wales, France does not exist. I'm calling shenanigans on your latest move and placing you firmly in nip into such a time as someone vouch for your credentials.

What is with these people I'm sure I've seen before at a higher postcount and much, much more often?

I'm in, I notice at Evo strikes up the new game after the game in the pub we played recently, where he brought home the win in classic style, I always forget the Stephenson viaduct introduced not long after the circle line became operational in both directions.

I'll call aubergine, 5/7/13. Liverpool Street - central line severe delays. *twizzles moustache*

edit: for the rest of ya, get playing or get out - http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tube-map.pdf

Picadilly Circus.

Don't think I didn't see what you were trying to do. Lord Mountbatten's Gambit is such an obvious play after it's extensive use last January.
