An explosion at Moscow's Domodedovo airport. The current death toll is 35 and 170 injured 20 critically. Reports are suggesting a suicide attack. According to eyewitnesses quoted by Russian TV's Vesti news programme, before detonating the explosives the bomber shouted: "I'll kill you all!", the device is thought to have contained the equivalent of 7kg (15lb) of TNT.

President Dmitry Medvedev vowed those behind the attack would be tracked down.

Pretty tragic. This is awful, but Stern that is actually one of the better instances of that meme so I'm all for it.

Russia is going to hurt somebody or another over this.

This is terrible, such a devastating explosion. I wonder how long or if anyone will claim responsibility for the attack.

No doubt Chechen rebels. A shame that the Islamification of their movement has led to tactics like this, a national liberation army shouldn't target civillians.

I don't think Russia would risk major unrest in the northern Caucasus region this close to the Sochi olympics. They'll probably try to hunt down the group responsible and then just throw some money Kadyrovs way and tell him to get his shit together.

Anyway, I always thought terrorist attacks against Russia are pointless. These guys made it through Napoleon, Hitler, scorched earth, incompetent Tsars, Stalin, gulags, etc. What do you think you can do that will break these peoples will?
 
I dont see anybody blaming video games at all. They're blaming Muslim extremists as far as I can tell.

Yaknow, I've noticed there has been very little coverage of this on the media around where I live. I guess America doesn't want its citizens to feel sympathy for the commies. I wouldn't have known about this if I hadn't stumbled across the thread here and done some looking.

This is terrible.

Also, why exactly would video games be blamed? In MW2 the airport was shot up... this was a suicide bomber.
 
I'm fairly sure the OP's comment about MW2 was sarcasm.

Aside from this, terrorism makes me :( . Best wishes to the families of all those who were killed.

It also offered up comments from Walid Phares, director of the Future Terrorism Project at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, who said, "Indeed it is a trouble to look at the game and reality. The issue is we need to know if terrorists or extremists are using these videos or DVDs or games to basically apply the model." He added, "I think those who have been radicalized already -- that is supposed in this case jihadists, Al-Qaeda, or other kind -- they look at the games and say these games will serve them to train."

You always see politicians discussing the possibility of terrorists using games for training, but never the effectiveness of it.

Modern Warfare 2 would be a horrible training program. I say, let them train on it all they want!
