What is the most beautiful, remindable spot or place in a game you've played ?

For me i guess its the Auriga MP map in Alien Vs Predator 2, where the spaceship called Betty is docked.
Or the place in the beginning of Chronicles of Riddick, its outdoor and when you look up you see buildings
incredibly high, that is amazingly beautiful.

Midgar Sector 8 (I think it was 8) slums. The train station, the shanty town and most of the, the pillar.

Also, just had a flashback of the 'Scalling Rockcliffe Walls' part of Zelda: Majoras Mask after looking at the picture posted. Y'know, after you started the music house making music and killing the mummies (Gibos, where they called?) and then moving onto the temple in the canyon. Yeah, ace.

Probably the Sokrovenno forest in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Its very nicely detailed with the foliage and little animals all over the place. It really comes into its own when you're batteling the Spetznatz unit, and your life depends on how well you can hide in the perfectly animated grass and leaves.

Also the well area in Prince of persia: The sands of time looks very nice.

But the best looking game ever in my opinion is Half Life 2. All of the areas in the whole game look awsome on high settings. And you dont even need a super computer to play it.

Hmm... Vampire : The Masquerade : Bloodlines at a certain map, looking up at the starts. Lots of athmosphere

EDIT : OF course! Beyond Good and Evil! That game had TONS of athmosphere

Parts of HL2 looked really incredible, completely awesome. Same goes for Far Cry, actually, so it goes to either one.

The whole psychonauts game looks amazing, most of it looks better and has more atmosphere then any part in any game.
Also pretty much any part of PoP:SoT, (especially the large buddah where you get the dagger of time). PoP:WW looks pretty dammed good to.
HL2 when you come the first time out of the trainstation in to the plaza.
BG&E especially whne you are riding in that hovercraft in hyllis main city(damm I loved that game)
FF8, balamb garden is really nice.

many levels in swat4 are very beautiful, those level designers have some talent. also when you first open the doors to city17 in hl2, its really great, the scene is just full of so many things. alot of places in hl2 look so cool and real i wish i could be there.

I didnt exactly mean which games has the best graphics etc etc. More like a amazingly beautiful spot in a game.

the beginning of hl2, particurly once you left the station, it looked so great, seeing the reflection of the citadel in the trainstations windows above the entrance was awesome...

the tanker in mgs2 looked amazing...

max payne 2 had some nice levels

ico...well duh...

pop:sot...

That Milkman level is Psychonauts was absolutely brilliant.

I remember playing Halo for the first time, and looking up in the sky to see streaks of blue shooting up, dropships flying around, and seeing the ground slope up past the horizon, and into the sky. I thought it looked amazing...

But then I played Half-Life 2.
Seeing the citadel up close from inside the crater it was in > everything

Far Cry for the gorgeous outdoor scenery, but Half-Life 2 takes the cake.

Inside the citadel in HL2. Perhaps not "beautiful", but I was in awe. Huge, monolithic, foreboding, the coffin rides...

The remake of "Facing Worlds" for UT2K3.

The train ride of HL1.

I know there's more somewhere in the back of my head, but those three are what stood out currently in my mind. If I played through all my games again, I'd undoubtedly put more down.

God, you just had to bring up this topic after i'd deleted all my HL2 screens.

I'll have to go dig what's up on the net up.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, the outer space section of Ape Escape was probably the most memorable section of a game for me. Ape Escape, still my favorite game...

Riding the things through the citadel and seeing the gunships and striders deploying beneath you was incredible. The plaza was as well.

In HL I loved the train ride and the part of Surface Tension where you're on the rock cliff.

That part really gave me vertigo, I really felt nauseaus then :/

HL2 and FarCry are the obvious choices when it comes to lush landscapes and tantalising realism... but the far more memorable scenes, for me, are those that exchange exaggerated beauty for something you've never seen before. Something intriguing, something mystical. I mean, it's one thing coming across a picturesque island in FarCry, that looks like it's straight out of a holiday brochure of some sort.. but it's another thing to ride past a towering statue of a long-forgotten god, and to just gaze up and wonder how long it's been there, how many battles it's seen... how many civilisations have risen and fell around it. And that's why I love WoW... because there's awe-inspiring stuff like this everywhere.

I played through it earlier today, it was tense (surface tension, no pun intended lol) because I'd be terrified of that in real life

Digged up a train station screen of HL2 with bloom : Here

EDIT : Digged up a Battle Grounds 2 screenshot : http://img276.imageshack.us/img276/6293/hill00391ik.jpg
EDIT : HL2 : Substance : http://img276.imageshack.us/img276/9996/d1trainstation0400008uc.jpg
EDIT : Counter-Strike : Source : Zombie mod : http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/2809/csassault2005new00123ue.jpg , me and my team on a container, just waiting until a zombie creeps on 'em

Ok, that's enough for tonight :p

If I find more awe-inspiring pictures, I'll post 'em here

HL1's introductory train ride.
HL2, the entire introductory level.
Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker.
A bunch of places from Super Mario Sunshine.

Alien vs. Predator II - the alien hive and tunnels were really neat. So abandoned and forlorn. The predator level where you are in the underground tunnels and you find the huge skeleton, at the end of which, you hear something groaning. I waited a long time waiting for something hideous to come out. Many of the levels in that game were memorable.

Unreal II, I forget the name of the level, but it's the planet with the robot-aliens that are experimenting on the humans. That was seriously neat art, huge levels.

The wastelands in Scrapland - just struck a chord with me.

Tron 2.0, the reformat and the corrupted partition are still visited just to see them.

Half Life I - I was lucky enough not to know anything at all about the game before I played it. Had no idea what was in store and the next thing I know I'm on Xen. Very cool.

Chex Quest (because it was the first game I played), where you get to the underground tunnels. The graphics are bad by todays standards, but I was always excited when I got there.

Unreal 2 is incredibly beautiful even if its a pretty old game. Now you made me wanna buy AvP 2 and complete as Predator. I think i only completed the game as marine and alien.

OMG! That's the game i've been longing for! Chex Quest, that's the name of it! I remember when I was 7, this was the first PC Game I had ever wanted and it came in the cereal box, the only reason why I got it, I gave it to my brother so he could install it, but I was never able to play it, since my brother was greedy like a mofo.

OMG! I praise you for mentioning this game, now, I can finally play it!

All of Guild Wars was incredible; even the Post-Searing areas.

Alan Wake or Oblivion would be my favourites

But the Witcher looks like the master of artistic art

Far Cry - Fort level, such beauty, more specifically the start of that level with the mercs on the beaches and patrolling the area
Deus Ex - Entering the Versalife facility in Hong Kong, the huge hand statue over the reflective marble
Max Payne 2 - The abandoned fun house, nuff said

Now i remember. The most beautiful ive seen in a game is the wheelchair in Silent Hill 2. Its behind a glass wall and there is light coming out from a half open door to light up the wheelchair. That is the most beautiful, mysterious and sick moment ive ever experienced in a game.
