Most beautiful game.

I really liked some of the soul reaver 2 and defiance environments. The sarafan temples/cathedrals were always really well designed and had a really archaic atmosphere. Just really love what their design team did, maybe a bit dated for some people but i don't think cool design gets dated.

Most of the city 17 stuff in half-life 2 was awesomly atmospheric.

OMG! That's the game i've been longing for! Chex Quest, that's the name of it! I remember when I was 7, this was the first PC Game I had ever wanted and it came in the cereal box, the only reason why I got it, I gave it to my brother so he could install it, but I was never able to play it, since my brother was greedy like a mofo.

OMG! I praise you for mentioning this game, now, I can finally play it!
CHEX QUEST! I played that!

Many areas in Dungeon Siege 1&2 Look pretty damn amazing.

Shenmue 1 and 2 for me get the award.

Especially Guilin is Shenmue 2 (the end of the game) Where you're just walking through the forest, visiting all those beautiful locations. Such as the waterfalls, the pond (with all those mystical colours), the area with all the flowers and she makes them all fly, the rushing streams, the cave, the HUGE Shenmue tree.

And then theres the citys/towns you visit. Each with bustling locations, with NPC's going about their lives :p

Unreal II, I forget the name of the level, but it's the planet with the robot-aliens that are experimenting on the humans. That was seriously neat art, huge levels.
Good choice. From an artistic perspective, that omnious, huge looking yet strangely dead metropolis was brilliant. Lots of shiney floors, gothic architecture. Very Giger. Course, being Unreal 2 it wasn't actually that fun to play, with enemy encounters far apart and uninteresting.

Homeworld / Homeworld 2: In terms of pure polygons, both games look dated now. Taken at their time, they were at the forefront of graphics and they have amazing art production values that are truely something special. Homeworld 1 has all the good moments: The Mothership launching from the orbital construction yard to Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei is probably the best moment, though returning to Kharak
to find it engulfed in a fireball
was a great moment too. Homeworld 2 was more of the same, but in a higher resolution. Space isn't just "Black with twinkly bits" thanks to the Homeworld games, which take you to nebulas, supernovas, gigantic space graveyards and the core of the galaxy. The high standards were carried on throughout the game, especially in the interesting animatics that told the story between chapters.

has to be Mario 64, any bit of it, but especially when i first got to the top of the mountain in the first world, beat the King Bo - Omb and got a chance to look around the level.

This thread is worthless without more PICS!

not the most beautiful, but alot of parts in StarCraft *the game, not the CG* really gave me goosebumps....

But for utter beauty, I'll say alot of the parts in HL2...

And before I forget : Albion. That game absolutely rules. Really nice artwork and great story. But it's soo big, never finished it :(

Behold! I am the other person on this planet who has played this game! Also, get this: I completed it! Yes I used a walkthrough, but forgive me, I was only a wee one :)

Not a game I'd call beautiful tbh, but I can see where you're coming from

Lol, I even printed out a walkthrough, but I just never got the time for it :(

Best looking game. Guild Wars, obviously :)

I win :p
QFT... not only because it's TDE, but also because he posted some righteous pics, and is certainly a winnar in my book

ARRGH! It shines! It shines!! Good pics though.

The one that comes to memory first for me: Far Cry, where you get up to that that hang glider mountain peak on that night level after all the test subjects break free. You can see everything, including that glittery moonlight-on-water effect.

Also Unreal 2, where I made a whole bunch of screenshots before I got new HDs and formatted/broke the old ones, etc.

Holy crap i might have to buy guild wars hmmm that looks really nice.

Pfft, those screens make me want to re-install it... BUT NO!!! I bought that game simply to prove to myself WoW was better, and it worked! GW for the suckage!

pretty, that guild wars game. if it was a regular RPG, id be all over it.

You don't need to pay monthly you know... it basically is a normal RPG, except you play it online. Plus I picked it up for only £17 on play.com, which is a bargain. The only trouble is you HAVE to group up - you seriosuly can't go solo like in WoW or other MMOs, which is why I stopped playing. I was actually in a large guild full of HL2.net people, but I'm just more of a lone wolf, so I didn't enjoy it much.

What is the most beautiful, remindable spot or place in a game you've played ?

For me i guess its the Auriga MP map in Alien Vs Predator 2, where the spaceship called Betty is docked.
Or the place in the beginning of Chronicles of Riddick, its outdoor and when you look up you see buildings
incredibly high, that is amazingly beautiful.
