Most gory games?

Super Mario Brothers.

What? Squashing Goombas, shooting fireballs at turtles....so horribly gruesome.

In terms of actual visible gore though, Manhunt doesn't do it. Sure, you get the horrendous violence of the brutal act, but no real entrails and other effluence or anything.

Violence: Yes.
Gore: No.

There are many times throughout the game where very gory things are witnessed in the environment, involving various bodily fluids/organs. And how is decapitating someone with razor wire, wearing their head on your belt, and then throwing the head at either walls (which will create a splatter of matter and draw people do it) or at enemies (which will create similar spatter on them and scare the absolute shit out of them) not one of the gorier things in video games? That's not even mentioning the ridiculous executions. And none of this is handled in the slapstick manner of "Oh look at me, I stuck a gun barrel up a cats asshole!", but in a very serious, sadistic way.

Oh yeah, and apparently you can rip a mans testicles off with a pair of pliers in the second one, so yay.

gears of war for sure
sawing someone/something in half has never looked so gory :)

Gears of War blood doesn't even look like real blood, though. But still, it's not especially gory... The goriest parts are when you saw a guy in half.. Even then, blood splatters everywhere (on your screen) but doesn't stay anywhere.. No real good-looking puddles of blood, just 2 pieces of a guy, who isn't bleeding at all. GoW is not at all worthy enough to be called the goriest, there are WAY gorier games out there. Just because a game is fun, and has blood in it, does not mean it's the goriest.

ya you're totally right...
2 pieces of a guy lying on the ground isn't gory at all
:rolling:

care to give us an example of a "WAY gorier game"?

God of War

Manhunt (regardless of how many times it was already said, it's still gory)

Mortal Kombat (pretty much all of them, with the fatalities and all..)

Alien Shooter Vengeance (small "no-name" type game, but it's REALLY gory, tons of blood and alien pieces everywhere)

Can't think of any more right now, I'll do some more tomorrow.

So Quake, that had 3 pieces of meat when you gibbed someone, is gorier?

On Gears of War -

The blood is "realistic" enough in the context of the game. Most of it's coming from alien (subteranian, whatever) creatures anyway. Besides which out-and-out realism shouldn't really be a factor in the first place if we're including games like Postal.

Also, the corpses do bleed. Huge pool of blood on the floor, no less. And they look damn gruesome after you saw em in half - with the notable exception of visible and discernable organs, but again, aliens.

Disregarding all of that, take another look at the thread title. Note the plural. I don't think anyone is saying GoW is the most gory game, but it's up there.

Edit - Oh yeah, did anyone mention Dead Rising yet? Some wickedly gory deaths in there. Oh, which brings up another factor - sound! It's always so much more satisfying when you have some great gory sound effects to go with your killing (gee I hope Jacko is reading this).

I'm still standing by my ROTT.

ROTT looks ridiculous! That's a bit too much for me, I prefer the pixels of Blood. :p

If I'm not mistaken, this was the most gory game out at the time, the reason that people didn't buy it. I think they were scared...too bad, this game was awesome. I'll take a remake/sequel :p

Didn't the game have parental lock like Duke Nukem? If so they could've just turned that on those sissies. ;)

Yeah, it had a "gore level". What's funny, I guess they didn't care. The saw they could see eyeballs flying in front of them, they didn't want that...rofl.

Right after I posted that list of 4 games, I went to bed, and as I was walking I thought "damn, I should have put Dead Rising..". But the thing is the REALLY gory stuff doesn't happen until you learn the moves (save for the katana/chainsaw). Best move you can learn: Disembowelment. Sound/look of it is sweet.

The Darkness - Ripping hearts straight out of people's ribcages and eating them, stabbing people, blowing a hitmans brain out of the back of his head. So awesome.

Gears of War - Fun to blow a Locust in half with the Gnasher and look at his organs hanging out.

SOF2 - Just play it.

Gun - Come on. Plug one bullet into a bandit and gallons of blood fill your screen.
