Yes, that's right. The game characters who are so painfully average you couldn't really care less about.

Pac-Man - Since when did he have legs and arms? He hovered and grabbed just fine without both.
Sonic - Who decided he should be voiced by a whiny teenager? Angst and attitude should not be confused.
Rayman - Floppy-haired french emo twat. Kind of like the ones you get screeching in your ear in CSS.
Tony Hawk - Am I the only one who purposfully bails to laugh at a a 60 year old trying to skate?

Practically everyone from Sin Episodes.

For the record: its Masterchief. And its not his name, its his rank. They seem to use it like a nickname for him.

As for my part: Vexx :D

There was a time I was so so so excited for Vexx because I thought it'd be the kickstart platforming needed on last gen consoles. Turned out to be another dead weight dragging the genre back down. What ever happened to the glory of Super Mario 64, Glover, Rocket, Robot on Wheels and the like?

I was so naive three years ago.

Uh, how about Link or Cloud or any of those anime shitheads? I'd love to see Cloud try and do a spinning kick of happy song against Chuck Liddell.

Quite frankly the worst lead characters in gaming:

Leon Kennedy - Resident Evil 4
Jack Carver - Far Cry

Rather shitty villains:

Malcom Betruger - Doom 3
The Pain - Metal Gear Solid 3
Fatman - Metal Gear Solid 2

Everyone in Quake 4

Adrian Shepard speaks for himself.

Irony intended?

And you could pretty much say the same thing about any of the MGS3 cobras, or **** it, any MGS boss that isn't a major villain. They were sort of just there for filler, as cool as some of them were.

Those two annoyed me most.

Yeah, I'll give you that. Actually, come to think of it, Fatman was really the only boss in MGS2 that didn't have any significance to the rest of the plot in some way or another if I recall correctly. And the Pain was just....really forgettable, which I guess makes you totally correct!

The entire character rosters of Far Cry and the Sin series.

edit: and Quake 4 as well of course.

Hey, I love Leon. :D He's excellent because he's so mediocre. He's a big ball of cliches. He gets more laughs than most "humorous" characters in games by being so understated.

Now Jack Carver I agree with....he wasn't funny at all. :(

Leon did have some hilarious lines. I still love how awesomely bad the ending is.

I also hated Jack Carver. God...the VA...

Yeah. I love Leon in the same way that I love Chuck Norris or Steven Segal- so bad, they're excellent. On the other hand, Jack Carver really doesn't have anything good going for him.

At least Far Cry was a blast :p

Master Chief. The must generic character. And He just happens to be in the most generic game(s) of all time.

The "name", the "personality" and the "look" just reek of averageness.

Pac-man, Sonic? Don't dis the classics. :p

I agree with a lot of Samon's list.

Gordon Freeman

-Tony Hawk isn't even 40 yet :p

-I like Master Chief because he is fun to play. He may not have depth or a real personality but that's not the only thing that makes a character good. The fact that I WANT to play as Master Chief more than most chars tells me they did a pretty good job making him.

-You guys are wrong about Jack Carver. He isn't mediocre. He's just plain bad.

I'm surprised no-one mentioned John Dalton yet!

He's a bit one dimensional, but I think he's not such a bad character actually. Hard to pick out individual things to moan about in Unreal 2 after all.

Yeah, come to think of it, wern't ALL Tony Hawk characters worthless?

When I say Jack Carver, I mean the PC version. Console version is better.

That FarCry dude.. he sucks

You mean Jack Carver? :p

Link I will agree with. As for Cloud I couldnt disagree more. He has a lot of character in FFVII and I think he is one of the best characters ever created. Thats just my opinion though.

Anime shitheads? Feeling harsh towards animation are we? I dont know where I would be today if I didnt grow up on cartoons like Thundercats and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They ROCK!!!! I still watch anime films/series such as Hellsing, Akira and Fist Of The North Star as they are awesome. Mist anime games do tend to suffer quite a bit from thier style of game and character methods etc so I will give you some respect for what you say.

My List

Albert Wesker (Resident Evil)
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) <---She may have character but it isnt for me
Dr Breen (Half Life 2)

Thats all I can be bothered to think of for now. More later.

Probably Gordon Freeman. In all honesty, I actually forget I'm playing as him, because there doesn't feel like theres anything to him. Also the fact that I think the general concept behind a scientist can handle such weapons like a RPG and such, etc.

I dunno, is it? :\ I mean I just kinda think ''Yeah... err, who am I again? Oh yeah, that guy who worked at that facilty which had nothing to do with handling complicated weapons or taking on legions of enemies.''
