This is a game of moments. You spend a decent amount of time getting one or two kills then dying... or hanging around as a recon spotting and taking shots and whoever gets in your crosshairs... or driving a tank around and jumping out to repair it every 15 seconds as an engineer... but the real fun comes from doing something awesome and memorable. The thing is, there's really nothing to show for it but a good story.

That's what this thread is for. Moments of pure satisfaction in your BC2 action.

One good time I always seem to have in a round is when I decide to go recon and I get that super long range sniper headshot. So far away you don't know if you really hit him until you get the points.

Another one is basically anything cool involving a helicopter. Sniping a pilot out of a chopper is glorious. Shooting one down with a rocket is even better, to witness, and more satisfying if you don't use a tracer dart. Just seeing it respond to the explosion and list sideways is fantastic.

Getting a good grenade kill is more rewarding than in previous games because of the fairly weak kill radius of most explosives. It's not so hard with a 40mm since it's fairly easy to aim once you grasp the trajectory, but hand grenades are another story. I feel like I wouldn't have more than a dozen grenade kills despite throwing them everytime I live.

edit: This is some fun BC2 making fun of MW2 stuff. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1192821

A helicopter I was a passenger in got hit by an RPG, and started twisting out of control, so I jumped out to avoid dying.

Of course, THIS TIME, the pilot manages to ****ing LAND THE TWISTING OUT HELICOPTER, gets out with another engineer, fixes it up, and then flies off.

I just watched this all happen from the ground and then I got sniped.

Hitting a heli with a tracer dart is always fun.

I shot a humvee that was moving at full speed with an RPG by leading ahead A LOT.

I suppose the most memorable moment for me so far in my short playing time was taking out a chopper FULL of people with an RPG as it was speeding away. The gunners were wreaking havoc on our defenses on rush and the infantry were slowly grinding their way towards us, the chopper was just making mince meat out of us. It was weakened, with smoke coming from it so it shot off back to base to make repairs, I was following it with iron sights the entire time and just before went out of range I fire and square in the backside. Had to judge its speed and the trajectory of my missile to perfection. Since it was already low on armor the entire thing just exploded in glorious fashion killing all five people on board. I was literally screaming with excitement down the mic to my mates haha.

Another memorable moment would have to be on attacking with rush as a medic where having planted the bomb and my entire squad being wiped out, in that 5 seconds before they re spawned on me I basically took out about 7 people rushing into the building single handedly before a grenade took me out, but it was those vital kills that eventually led the MCOM station being destroyed, and MASSIVE boost to my kill death ratio.

Probably for me so far was on Port Valdez as attack on the last point. Was on top of B roof and saw a loaded chopper go flying past towards our spawn. I whipped out my tracer dart and managed to hit the chopper in mid air flying full speed directly over where the defenders AH64 spawns. Pulled out my Gustav and fired, hitting the chopper and making it spin down into the ground.

Great thread. Love reading these.

Did a snipe job on a black hawk pilot in a HL2.net game the other week. Heli went face first into a cliff face as it plummeted killing 2 further people. Today on a random pub I managed to snipe the pilot of a black hawk 3 consecutive times (same guy!). He just seemed to always be doing a major turn near me and the shot wasn't particularly hard. Love watching the chopper just drop.

Other memorable moment from today. I was engineer standing by a wall shooting someone at distance (who had been marked). With my clip almost empty I stepped back 2 steps. At that second...a quad bike plows into the wall next to me. He had driven full speed at me trying to run me over but I moved at the last moment :D My clip was empty...and he was reversing for a second go. I ran up next to the reversing quad and knifed him while sitting on it! Ragdoll slumped over the handlebars and rolled off the side. BLISS.

i just finished a conquest game on panama canal as a recon. finished with 19 kills and 2 deaths. theres very little else as satisfying as lining up headshots across the map, or taking down 2 or 3 guys in quick succession as they move from cover - then scurrying off somewhere else and marking targets for others, all the while waiting until the right shots come along again.

an awesome game, so glad i got it after initially delaying as i had finally hit my stride with MW2

Me and another sniper in some BF2 pub are on that dam map or something, and we're spotting and calling out every enemy we see from this rather open but good position. The Comm starts dropping us supply boxes for cover and supplies, and yeah, was pretty intense because we were taking fire but calling out enemy units meant our team had the advantage.

Oh and every game I played with the Relicnews regulars, one of the guys was ex military and commanded the ground forces from an APC and we would always dominate the opposing team. Ussually I would go gunner and another guy would pilot the attack chopper but this guy was insanely good at piloting this thing, and we'd just support the ground forces, and we had some other Relicnews guys flying the jets.

All in all it was just some good co-ordination and teamwork and we always beat the other team to the point they'd complain about us working together so well, lols.

Fun times.

Oh and there was that phase where I threw satchels onto a buggy and drove it into enemy armour, bailed at the last second and detonated.

Annoyed so many people because its all I did and the other side could never run armour because of it.

Lastly on that middle-east coast map..gulf of Oman or something, I was playing with this bunch of infantry and we would move around as a squad, and it just worked really well, always had each others backs.

Just remembered another. Was playing HC SQDM on Arica Harbor as recon and was watching this squad in a building while a tank next to them was shooting at them. I see one pop up and I take the shot, killing him. The medic revives him, 5 seconds later I kill him again....medic revives, this time I kill the medic,.....but another medic revives him. Did the same thing one more time, shot the medic, but this time, the other medic revived him from behind and I took the shot, getting a double kill.

getting like 20,000 combat and award score for simply crushing my enemies. i think i crushed 10/15 or so buildings and the enemy had no place to hide. my rockets were constantly being fired and we defended the shit out of A and B on Africa Harbor.

Playing as medic with a Thompson on whatever map it is where you start on a desert plateau and slowly move down to the harbour. I just ran around in one small area racking up smg and defib kills, while continuously bringing hordes of guys back to life. I think I went 45 and 7.

I had my best BC2 moment so far tonight.

Nelson Bay, second stage attack, the MCOM on the right is down, tickets are almost to zero. Someone manages to charge the other crate but gets killed in the process and the defenders mount a counter-attack for the remaining MCOM. I decide to go gung-ho. A frontal attack would be madness so I lob a grenade inside the building where the crate is and flank to the right.

An assault dude gets in my way though. I open up on him, he opens up on me, and in the mean time my grenade explodes. That takes out two defenders, and the alarm keeps on going, faster now. My circle strafe dance with the assault dude ends in both his and my death, but in my dying moments I can see the MCOM explode in a big white flash. A moment later I get revived, I spot two remaining defenders and take them out before they have a clue.

It all took about 10 to 15 seconds, but it seemed to go in slow motion. Awesome and very satisfying moment.

I haven't played a ton yet, but my most satisfying moments are:

-Taking down a heli (moving perpendicular to me) with a tank shell

-I was fighting a tank as an engi. I hit the tank with one rpg from the rear when an assault guy opens up on me. I take cover then gun him down while he reloads. I'm out of rpgs so I sprint to his corpse, get his kit, drop an ammo bag, switch back and reload my rpgs. Sprint to cover to avoid the tank that is bearing down on me. Hit it from the side with a 2nd rpg, then just charge at it. It backs up at full speed as I sprint along side it. I'm keeping pace with my lightweight spec on. I keep close to it and he keeps backing up until he runs into debris. I get behind him and finish him with my last rpg :)

Btw if you are really close to an enemy tank, as an engie. You can blow up enemy tanks using your repair tool on it. Only a couple seconds and it dies :D

The problem is they can jump out when it hits 0 and kill you. I hate that :(

I was doing that in my last game, there was like 1 pixel of life left on the tank then boom...<m95 headshot> -_-

Oh shit...that helps a TON because I get really close to them all the time.

New memorable moment: Double kill with one bullet while sniping. One headshot straight through to the other guy's chest :)

I just got the MG3 last night. That thing empties a 100 round clip like nobody's business. I was sneaking around Port Valdez with it last night and poked around a corner to see three guys running at me... I opened up and emptied an entire clip taking out all three of them. I probably could have done the same with any LMG, but it was exciting because I used so many bullets. The thing isn't realy effective past like 50 yards though...

did this yesterday when I accidentally landed on a tree from the choppah on Valparaiso (?), in the first stage. I was sniping guys left an right, and pulled off a double headshot with one bullet. I ended up going 49:11 that round.

Played one round today as a medic and achieved an over all score of 4500+, with 36 kills to 12 deaths, and that was in a laggy server too. Was rather proud of that ^^

Nice Shift! Sometimes I think the Medic guns are just way too good. I get way too many kills when toe to toe with an Assault.

Medic seems to be a bit OP right now. I use the M60 and it's a goddam death spewing cannon. With the ability to keep my teammates alive, I'm basically god.

I will agree, the medic kits are overpowered in this game if you aren't a noob haha.

I managed to get up on the roof of a building and saw not 1, but 4 snipers and a guy at the UAV station; I rocked everyone's world. I just don't think I've gotten 5 kills that quickly before.

I've found my dream gun. Take the SPAZ. Insert 12g Slugs. Insert Magnum Rounds. Enjoy one hit kills at most ranges. Profit.

In other news, I managed to SPAZ the pilot of a Black Hawk out with one of those Magnum Slugs.

From what i've encountered of the SPAZ so far, it's ridiculous ! Every time i've seen anyone use it it really does seem to be one hit kill at short and medium range every time !

Yeah the SPAZ is another pest, I keep on getting backraped with them from sniper classes using them.

I unlocked the VSS today, lovin' it

right when I unlocked I managed to kill the the Pilot of a UH60 and then after that I killed a UAV with it lol

The M95 is fun.

I realized that no sniper rifle can deliver a one shot body kill past a certain range even with magnums. Doesn't realy fit with the .50 cal reality but oh well. It also seems to have a different trajectory that makes the bullet drop a lot less. It is highly effective, though.

Sometimes if I see a group of people I'll drop artillery on them and then start picking them off as they run out from cover. When I read that back it kind of makes me sound like a sadistic freak.

Just shot a pilot out of a chopper and it was gooooood. :)

Just played on a small populated server with 3 others mates, there were about 4 others on our team, and the other team outnumbered us by a further 3, the server didn't seem to balance the teams out or anything.

But we basically pushed the entire opposing team back single handedly, the other 4 guys were doing nothing. So it was basically 4 against 11 and we almost beat them, the intensity of having to breach that final base, considering they stole our tank and were hammering the entrance with fire, and they had a hind circling the field, it was amazing that we managed to destroy one of the bombs in the final push. Was just down to sheer tactics and teamwork and was brilliant, even though we couldn't nail the final bomb.

I don't have one most satisfying moment, but there are a few good ones.

I was playing Conquest on Laguna Presa and as a recon placed C4 around the flag in places where I'd expect the enemy to cap from and hid in some nearby bushes. A few minutes later I saw the flag being capped, so I detonated the C4, but got no kills. I proceeded to move in on the flag myself, headshotted some unsuspecting guy and switched to pistol and killed another that noticed me. I spun 90 degrees to the left and saw two other guys, somehow oblivious to my presence, so I sniped one with a clean headshot and took a few shots at the other guy that eventually managed to get away. Back 90 degrees to the right and there's a sniper running away from the flag - 2 bodyshots and he falls to the ground. Somewhere in the mix there were two other guys, most likely killed by me with a pistol, but I don't remember exactly when.

Anyway, after this 30-40 second action, I looked at the scoreboard and had a nice 6-0, so that felt pretty good.

A few minutes later on the same map I noticed that there are enemies in our uncap, because somebody shot our APC as it was rolling away from the base. I swiftly found and dealt with the shooter, but I noticed another one and started chasing him. However I managed to lose him when he took a turn through the fence. So I climbed a nearby scaffolding to get a better view and there he was - driving away on a stolen quadbike. I thought I'd give it a shot and since he's made a turn and was now going at a 45 degree angle in relation to me, as I was taking the shot my crosshairs were about 1cm in front of him and 0.5cm above him. POP. Headshot. He falls of the quad into the sand and I shout out in satisfaction, marvelling at my beautiful shot.

Nelson Bay, first stage on attack. The left MCOM went down pretty quick but the one on the coast was heavily defended. The tickets were down to about 20 when I managed to activate it. I had no backup though, so a defending squad that came running up the stairs killed me and stopped the countdown. I respawned on a squaddy who was near to the MCOM, so I tried to get some revenge on my nemeses. I gave em a couple of shots from my Neostad, but it was too far for a shotgun. With no alternative I lobbed a grenade into the house in the hope that it might hit something. It did. The explosion was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. The building collapsed and took at least 5 defenders with it. The bottom of my screen lighted up with Destruction 2.0 kills and MCOM attack bonuses. The final MCOM was destroyed in the process, which netted me another 100 points. We failed miserably at stage 2, but at least I got the Ace pin that round. :)

>_>

I don't have the game yet, but I played on my friend's computer. Chaos and shit was happening and I had no idea what was going on when I spawned in. I step around a corner and get into position and this sniper and his buddy take a shot at me. Both miss. I take a potshot with my own sniper rifle I also miss, so I decide to relocate and try to get into a better position. I run around this building and find a clear spot and I notice that the two snipers also moved position. They were trying to climb up over this ledge and the first guy messed up his jump, so I noticed the top of head would appear over the ledge when he tried to jump up. On his next jump, I pull the trigger... and headshot both of them. God I wish this game had a replay button.

Not exactly satisfying but funny as hell. On Arica Harbor just as I'm edging my way towards A on the second lot of MCOM stations, I notice an enemy tank coming down to the road towards me, I turn around and notice one of our humvee's driving full pelt towards the tank. The tanks main shell fires just before the car smashes into it, it explodes and fly right up into the air on fire, over the tank doing a few backwards spins before crashing down into a mangled mess right at the other end of the road.

One of the funniest things I have ever seen on a game.

on africa harbor, finally got a destruction 2.0 kill, took down 3 guys and a MCOM station with it. was playing around with the advanced optics on a M1A1, just providing some artillery to soften up the enemy position whilst infantry moved up over the ditch/fence area. also racked up a ton of points in the UAV spotting, lighting up tanks and calling in strikes on snipers up on the small hill to the left of the map. came out on top with nearly 3000 points.

what sucked is that for the rest of the game i stayed on station dropping shells to lay a path of destruction that the troops could mop up only for them to be utterly useless at taking down position B. it got to a point where i just went full throttle through the base and started plowing rounds into the crate and it got to about 2% health or whatever before i get swarmed by rockets, we have one ticket left, all it's going to take is a ****ing knife and it'll explode and what do i hear as i die? ''yeah looks like we've planted a charge!'' and by then it's too late, the bell that planted the charge has died and we've lost.

****ing idiot teammates.

I agree the game tends to throw you into games where most of your team are just a bunch of ****ing retards. I've joined games with mates where its basically our squad against 12 other players, constantly racking up the best squad prize, because all the others are just downright useless.

Joining a game Pesmerga was in and shooting him in the back of the head to get his attention after spawning on him.

How was I supposed to know he was playing on Hardcore? In a similar experience, with him and another friend just dicking around. We were sitting in a corner guarding crate A on the second phase of Isla Innocenties and I was an engineer. I dropped 3 AT mines at our feet and shot them. The last thing I remember was Pesh screaming over the mic "WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT?!" with a combination of confusion and him suffocating as he laughed so hard he couldn't breathe.

Oh yeah, AMAZING helicopter runs on Atacama Desert with Kamikazie. One specific run with him as pilot and I as gunner came to mind. We circled the map looking over all 3 points blasting f*ckers when an enemy attack chopper flies in with a barrage of rockets. Kami dodges nearly every one except 2 that hit the cockpit nearly killing me. He launches off a barrage and I lay on some cannon fire as the enemy chopper goes down in flames. He then brings us low as we run through blowing up some tanks after that when he says over the mic "uh yeah hey we have like 5 points of armor oh god". F*cker flies off as we blow up a tank and a quad bike, pulls us to the side in the middle of the desert while dodging a load of fire from tanks, infantry, and mounted RPGS alike, and repairs the chopper. No one touched us for the rest of the game.

While playing rush on that map where the trees are autumn colored, I managed to knock a chopper out of the sky with mortars. I wasnt aiming at the heli, but here was no warning for him. He flew right into it. Didn't get the tank kill I wanted though, since the mortars come down randomly - this one dropped one mortar, then paused and dropped the rest. It was like a small "hey you" to the tank. Made me a little angry until the chopper pilot pulled in to sign his death certificate.

And in general, I love being like a mile away with the recon class and dropping bombs on guys. It's like being invincible.

This isn't really a satisfying moment but I found it entertaining...

We were on Valapraiso and I was a defender. Of course the main weapon of the attackers in this is the blackhawk so I was an engineer for the fun of shooting it down. Well, I think their second or third attempt with the blackhawk they started getting more desperate... flying faster and at various altitudes to throw us off because really.. I was just on fire with my Chuck Gussie. It won't instantly kill it, but the force it causes usually is enough to take out all but the most skilled pilots.

So this time they're coming in low and fast around the back side of the M-COMS at the first defense point and I'm standing back there with my big guns ready. I take my shot and the chopper starts going down. I stand quietly relishing in my achievements as it comes barreling in at high speed. I see two people jump out and try to parachute only to have the now tumbling helicopter hit them and give me a couple of sweet kills. It ends up standing on it's nose a about 10-15 yards away from me and I think "Well that was just fantastic," and it would have been if what happened next didn't occur.

The chopper started listing toward me from it's nose... it seemed like slow motion but it couldn't have been more then a second or two... it fell upon me an exploded giving me a the first instance I've seen of a death caused by "DEATH" in all caps with a skull and crossbones. So that wasn't quite satisfying but it was entertaining to me and probably anyone else who took the time to watch it occur.
