i am looking for a new motherboard and processor. I was thinking about upgrading to a amd athlon 64 bit system but I dont really know what to look for. I need some suggestions for a new motherboard/processor, i am willing to spend up to abot $300 USD. Thanks for the help!

Get what I got, an AMD 64 bit 3400 S754, and an MSI K8T Neo Nforce4(either AGP or PCI-E versions avaliable). I can say I'm very pleased with it. CPU is $205, and the mobo is $80 or $90 depending on whether you go AGP or PCI-E, so it adds up to $285-$295 when it's all said and done(BTW-Newegg prices).

MSI has made some nice Nforce boards for the Athlon 64 recently. Good stuff.
And the 3400+ runs at 2.4GHz which is really nice as well.

754 is dead, but I don't plan on upgrading for a while so this is why I went 754. It's still good though, and just as good as that $270 S939 3500. ;)

At least if you buy 939 you can wait a few years and still upgrade.
