I am about to order a new pc and I have a question. I am using one of those configurators that most pc stores have nowadays. The CPU is "AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 333 FSB Processor [512 L2 CACHE]. The motherboard is the "ASUS A7V333." Here are its details;

Code:
ASUS A7V333
Processor
Socket A for AMD® Athlon XP/ Athlon/ Duron 600MHz ~ 2GHz+
Chipset
North Bridge: VIA® KT333
South Bridge: VIA® VT8233A
FSB
266/200 MHz
Memory
3 x DDR DIMM Sockets
Max. 3 GB unbuffered PC2700/PC2100/PC1600 non-ECC SDRAM Memory
Expansion Slots
1 x AGP Pro
5 x PCI
IDE Ports
2 x UltraDMA/133/100/66
Audio
C-Media 8738 6-channel PCI audio controller
 USB 2.0
VIA VT6202 USB2.0 controller
4 USB 2.0 ports

With this motherboard and the cpu, will I have to overclock the cpu or will it be 3000

It looks like that mobo only supports up to 266 mhz FSB, and if thats true then you wont be able to get an AXP 3000+ because it has a 333 mhz FSB.

I think the info given there is bad, that mobo supports the 333 mhz FSB but in the description it says it supports 266. I think that one you showed is fine.

i checked on the asus site and the board will not support it.
and by that link you gave and of the mobo that are listed in that will work woth your chip

I just noticed that the motherboard toolbar says "ASUS A7N8X-X Nvidia Nforce2 400FSB 8X AGP w/USB 2.0." However if you click the little blue question mark on the side (more info) it'll come up a totally diffrent motherboard, the "ASUS A7V333." Strange....
