Mouse suggestions (not for games)

I am looking for a mouse that is comfortable and functional for a right-handed person. Don't care if it is wireless or not. Budget is up to $40.

-Needs to have a wheel which clicks as it scrolls. I do not like the new Microsoft wheel.
-Needs to have forward and back buttons and both on the left side of the mouse. I don't like side buttons on the right.

Any suggestions? I've never tried trackballs. Are they good enough for things like photo editing etc?

As always the Logitech MX 518 gets my vote. Cheap, scroll has obvious notches in it, good for right handed users and has both forward and back buttons about the thumb rest.

If I can't find anything better I was thinking about the MX518 too. It's about $35 online.

Although I might go pick up a logitech or Kensington trackball at a local store even though they don't have forward and back buttons. Then I can see how they are and return them before ordering anything online.

i wouldnt sudgest the kensington, we sell them and have alot of problems with them cutting out(or we just have some very forceful customers)

Oh yeah go for that one, it's only $400. Seriously though, I think the MX518 will be a good choice. You said you want to use it for photo editing; it has on-the-fly DPI changer so if you need to add a little detail, you just press one button and your pointer goes at 50% speed (customizable).

Also, it's great for gaming. Why did you get that upgrade then?

Oh it's for a different computer. I have this old ball mouse with 3 buttons (no wheel). It sucks. Looks sorta like this It's logitech too but a darker beige. Plan on replacing the keyboard I'm using on that one as well.

Pretty much anything Logitech is the way to go. If you want a *REALLY* nice mouse, check out the Logitech MX610. It's usually way above $40, but it's on NewEgg right now for $42.

I have one on my other computer and it's very comfortable and functional. Very handy for normal usage. Battery life is great.

Thats a good suggestion too. Although it's a bit more $$. hmm
Looks comfortable. I'll add that one to my list to try in the store. I like how the back curves in a bit to the right. Might let my hand rest better on the mouse.

One thing online sites really need to do is separate notebook mice and desktop mice. bah

oh yeah, and it's a laser mouse too, so it's great for the graphics work you talked about... :thumbs:
