Hey I was wondering if they ever plan on making a HL2 based book? I could see each game version being its own novel. If well written I'd love to read soemthing like that! What are your thoughts?

Hmm... I should state it as Half-Life based books, as HL2 would be the 'second' book in the 'series'.

Um. Half-life the game would be based off the book by Marc Laidlaw

I would LOVE to read a Half-life book, especially if Mark Laidllaw wrote it. In fact, if it wasn't written by him, then I would stay away from it. I mean he is the man who came up with the story, and wrote everything for them to base a game on, who else could write any kind of novel on half-life besides him?!?!

No. I think it makes a great backdrop for a game but not for a novel. It's kinda like making Doom III into a novel. Now Halo makes for decent material for a book or series of books.

mark laidlaw may be a person who can make up cool sci-fi ideas, but probably isn't the best writer, so any book in this case would probably written pretty averagely

Actually, it's mainly inspired by "The Mist", by a certain S. King.

I agree, and Marc Laidlaw has already said that the story is designed to be revealed as the game progresses, as if you are playing the novel. Character histories and details about the aliens would be interesting, but the whole story is best kept as a game.

Yeah, I think that the HL2 story should just be kept as a game- Fanfics are Ok tho, but i don't think a published "Half-Life 2" novel would be a good idea. I'll stick with my game thanks (whenever it decides to come out:p)

I think in an interview i read, Marc Laidlaw wrote 1000 pages on the the H-L universe, Gordon is just a part of it.
