For me it's different. I've always bought games because I like the official CD's and boxes. On top of that I never intend to get that HL2 beta because of its many flaws and it'd just plain ruin the game for me.

When people say that it "takes too much time" to find the movies and "the quality is sh*t" obviously ins't doing it right.

I have a collection of over 300 DVD quality movies (most with AC3 sound), alot from emule, and the rest from FTP dumps. Hell yeah FTP dumps are good for new DVD releases, so is bittorent, but try and find anything more than a few months old and you're screwed.

I'd say I check nf**ce once a day, and from finding something thats released that i want, to starting the download takes about 20 seconds.

All the piraters are coming out of the wood works since a mod admitted it, it sickens me. But im all for it, you cant honeslty say that because people are downloading movies that movie companies are losing money, i know that if i couldnt dl movies i still wouldnt see half the movies i have downloaded, they still woudlnt have my money, i wouldnt have went to see it anyway! The other half i go and see. And you guys dont know what you are talking about, definetly not emule or p2p shit, ftp can work if you have an ok connection.Its called Usenet guys, If you think it takes too much time your very much wrong, you can download a movie in like 1.5 hours give or take(depending on the movie) burn each disc in about 10 min each, and then flip the discs into your nearest VCD/SVCD/PDVD/ whatever DVD player (apex play everything and you can buy one for like 30 bucks) and be watching it.

I've only downloaded movies I've seen before and almost always in that time period between when they stop showing it at theaters and before it comes out on DVD (then, when it comes out I buy it)... or, of course, really obscure movies that I can't find anywhere else.

Usenet is crap for older movies... I just use the mule for that. And why use usenet when I have access to a 0-day dump.

And a decent FTP dump is hardley OK... it's the best for new stuff. A guy I know, through my contacts a bittorrent forum, gives me access to his, as he's big in the 0-day scene (He's the guy who supplies the stuff to various bittorent sites). And stuff is available before it's even on nforce. I can max out my connection downloading from him... and I know people who are on 10mbit connection who can max out when connected to him.

Well, that's my point Phate. I asked him if he could find these movies on Usenet and highly doubt that he'll find them, maybe 1 or 2 but no more.

I have access to ftp, irc, newsgroups and all, but these only serve the latest most terrific universal studios movies... which don't have my interest. Therefor I use eMule since it uses the biggest p2p network out there and practically everything can be found on there and that's pretty nice for someone who likes obscure movies like me

Most of the guys i know who have a 10mbit+ connection and access to the latest 0-day stuff use the mule everynow and again. They like to see older movies too. And hell whats a few kbp/s in the background when you have a fat pipe like that huh?

edit: hunter are you being serious? It's a releases page... so u know what's out. If it told everybody where to get it, it would be closed down in minutes, and every monkey in the world would be clogging the networks.

It might take 20 seconds to start a download, but if i leave now and walk fast, i'm at the rentalstore in 30.

So let's see, if i call up beforehand to let them put aside the movie for me, i could be back on teh couch in 1 minute.

Beats downloading and burning the shit any day of the week if u ask me.

As for quality, i might just be picky, but there's no way any of you guys can convince me that 800 mb rips are DVD quality.
So what then? Burn 2 cds? 3? What a crock of shit and a waste of time.

I've seen top quality rips, but they're still nowhere as good as the real deal.

Maybe when i pick up a DVD burner next year i'll think differently about warezing movies.
Then i might copy the rented ones i really like.
It's just not worth all the hassle for me now.

Although I'm a complete warez whore when it comes to appz, I haven't ever downloaded a movie, and I have never felt the desire. I like the extras you get with DVDs, especially the commentaries. If I think a movie is overpriced upon release, I'll just hold out for it to hit budget in a few months, they always do eventually.
