What do you think is the best movie that does not have a sequal or is a sequal?

I like think IRobot is the best.

For some reason that made me laugh, I'd ease up on the old flames or the mods'll open their can on you.

That is a profoundly strange question.

It essentially eliminates a very specific group of movies from consideration, namely the first installments of movies that eventually had sequels made for them.

I'd say The Godfather but due to your bizarre limitations I can't. But I COULD say The Godfather Part II. Your logic is crazy. But I like it.

Goodfellas is a good film, but it's based on a true story, so technically it can't really have a sequel.

There's something wrong with you, buddy.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is my favorite movie, and it goes with your bizarre restrictions. Adaptation, Lost in Translation, Fight Club and Memento were all pretty good standalone films, too :p

I, Robot was a friggin' sweet movie if you ignore ALL dialogue and Will Smith. And the plot. But the whole shooting the robots scene at the end was friggin' awesome.

That kind of attitude will not be tolerated here. Four warning points added.

The fact that I deleted your message in the first place should tell you that it's inappropriate, and should not be posted again.

I wouldn't call mocking a member of the staff appropriate (or anyone, for that matter). It's not relevant to the thread, so there's no point in keeping it. If you want to discuss this further, feel free to PM me. Otherwise, back on topic.

never mind, I'm just going to walk away like an adult. Others should learn from me *cough*

Okay......

.

Totally agreed. Lost in Translation was one of those movies, that changed the way I feel about movies. Sofia Copolla did an awesome job.

I wasn't too fond of I., Robot.

It could be argued that Snatch was the spiritual successor to Lock Stock, but that would make it elligible still. :D

Fight Club
Donnie Darko
Garden State
Requiem for a Dream
Blade Runner
Lock, Stock, And Two Smoking Barrels
The Incredibles

True. Snatch has the same type of humor and some of the same actors...but yet not a sequel :D

More:

Arlington Road
Shawshank Redemption
Gladiator
Braveheart

Just thinking of movies that I see on TV quite a bit :p (except Arlington Road)

The reason I like Arlington Road - WARINING: ABOUT THE ENDING
The good guy is trying to stop the bad guys of course...but the bad guys win and the whole thing is blamed on the good guy. One of the few movies where the bad guy wins and I liked it.
