The Secret Window
Swordfish

My gf and I rented a buttload of movies and we are trying to figure out how many movie have the bad guy winning? We can only come up with two right now.

Hmmmm, I will have a litte think about that and get back to you.

Swordfish is the only one that came to me at first. And you got that one....

Dr. Stranglegov (spelling?)

Although there is no clear bad guy in that movie, its definately not a happy ending.

Episode 2?
Empire Strikes Back?
Snoop Dogs Girls Gone Wild?

Hhmmm...Scarface? (aka The Greatest Movie of All-Time)

He was an antihero anyway though...so doesn't that make the other guys good, or at least better?

I guess. I dunno. There was no definite protagonist in the movie. But I still thought the "bad guys" won.

terminator 3?
cuz the machines allmost destroy all the humanity

Arlington Road.

Good movie, I'd highly recommend it.

And Pitchblack in a way. Though that could be debatable.

Fight Club...well in a way...
Irreversible
Natural Born Killers

Ocean's Eleven... technically they were the bad guys even though they were the protagonists in the movie. :p

I think he means the person who's not the heroof the story.

Leon? Maybe not if you consider that girl being the hero..

Well not quite what I had in mine but whatever.

In The Secert Window the bad guy kills alot of people and gets away with it. I mean it was cool in a way because it was a tweeked movie.

Goodfellas? 2001: A Space Odyssey? Barry Lyndon?

i dunno...depends how you wanna classify 'bad guy wins', sometimes the protagonists are the bad guys.

Hah was going to put Leon :)

I guess it's kinda a draw at the end, cause the Leon and that physcho cop guy get blown up, but the girl does survive so.... yeah who cares its a rocking film :D

How 'bought the Planet of the Apes?

I've never seen the movie :( but I've picked up a lot of parodies to know the jist of it.

Swordfish??

Wasn't the bad guy a pseudo good guy?

The Ring? In the end the crazy little girl wins because she still kills people unless they make copies of her tape. I guess that counts as the bad guy winning. :cheese:

hmmm I guess event horizon could be count the guy and ship when back to hell.

Well hmmmmm thats kinda hard to tell. He did kill some people that had nothing to do with his plans.

The asteroids aren't guys!... :| Unless.....

*starts using imagination*

Phone Booth? I mean, they surely
didn't catch the correct sniper.

Oooo how about Cool Runnings?

The good guys didn't win...but there weren't really any bad guys either.

EDIT: nevermind

Ehm...will you please STOP spoiling!! The movie hasn't premiered in Denmark yet, and I was actually going to watch it here in the summerholidays...guess I don't need to now...

...Pulp Fiction? Does that movie even have a winner? I realise there are onyl bad guys in the movie, but still...Butch makes it, and he was probably the least bad of them all....

Well Samuel L. Jackson's character makes it, and hes not that bad. :D

eXistenZ and A Clockwork Orange are two that come to mind.

Seven (kinda)

Anti hero is not the same as Bad Guy.

which version? sinatra or clooney? :)

This is one of those threads where a spoiler warning would be good. Now I know how the secret window ends. (Not that I was planning to see it, but still.)

Also:
Dawn of the Dead
Alien 3 (Well, no-one wins, except one minor character.)

there were no good guys in pulp fiction. there were bad guy, and realy bad guys. The only real winner of that movie was Jules, he left the world of hired hitmen and discovered god.

...and got his 'Bad Motherf*cker' wallet back. and in the end, isnt that what realy matters.

The Thing....

killed everyone there, and got away.
(Unless you played the game, you don't know how it all ended)

"anti-hero" protagonists and "bad guys" aren't really the same thing. the audince empathizes with them differently. for example, pre-RotJ darth vader, frank booth (blue velvet), the original terminator, thulsa doom, etc. can't really be put in the same class as tony montana, clockwork orange's alex, the two assassins from existenz, etc.. because we, as an audience share their POV, even if they are not classical "good guys". this is how "anti-heros" and "bad guys" differ.

in some cases, the anti-heros aren't even that bad (e.g riddick). also, movies where 'no one wins' like the professional, dr. strangelove, alien 3, etc. don't really fit the bill, do they? fallen is one of the better examples i can think of (though i never had the patience to watch swordfish all the way through). se7en is pretty close because the bad guy's plan is essentially fulfilled. NBK blurs the lines between antagonist and protagoist too much, and irreversible just doesn't seem to fit, imo:
i guess the rapist does get away in the um, beginning.. but he isn't really setup as the "bad guy" anymore than the asteroid is for deep impact

se7en, Fallen, The Ring, The Thing

The Thing had the best ending though
you weren't sure if either of the guys left were infected and at the end of the game you find out that McCready was
