Hi guys, never posted in the H&S section before but hell this would qualify.

I'm moving to australia in about a month and I was wondering if any of you had any experience and/or suggestions about how (or if?) I should pack my computer (and possibly periphrials) for the move?

Should I take the whole thing apart and place all the individual components in anti-static bags and surround them in styrofoam peanuts or.. somehow ship the whole computer or... what?

And what about the monitor? worst case scenario I can just buy a new one when I get there.

Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks guys!

Make sure you back up your data. You should be able to pack it in a box with styrofoam or packing peanuts. Just make sure it is upright or laying on the motherboard side. When you buy an HP or something they ship them all built in the box so it is ok to ship it like that.

If you want you could take everthing apart and put it in antistatic bags and boxes.

If properly packaged you think the whole case could arrive safely over an airline with all that tumbling and moving about? I was thinking of putting packing peanuts inside the godamn case for that extra level of security (as long as I remember to take the suckers out before booting up...)

So you don't have any recomendation over the styrofoam/peanuts VS. taking it all apart and shipping it in pieces?

Also, what about the monitor? I imagine that if it would be safe to transport the computer case w/ all components snuggled inside then it would be safe to ship the monitor the same way (styrofoam or packing peanuts or both)
