I lost all my music/movie from iTunes (again) but this time I can't get any of them back without spending 30 dollars on a 3rd party app.

Does anyone know of a FREE program that will allow me to transfer my songs from my version 2 itouch to my PC?

spank you very much

you can do it with itunes. i really wish i had an ipod to do it again.

if i remember correctly you need to make sure that the ipod is in mass storage mode and all hidden files are visible.

then in itunes you press add folder to your library. click on where the ipod is. it should add the files to your itunes. once that is done, press "consilidate" in the advanced tab. it should then put all of the music into your itunes folder under my music.

The problem with that method is it won't import your playlists. I would go crazy without my playlists.

I'm almost positive if the itunes and ipod are both sync'ed you can plug the ipod back in and it will pop up with a message like, "Some sounds found in your iPod were not in your iTunes library, would you like to copy these files there now?"

But that won't do playlists :(

i've tried all of your suggestions with no success. I succumbed to purchasing a program that did it, but it also came with a bunch of cool other software applications.

Thanks for the help

Ive got a piece of 3rd party software that installs itself on your ipod and it basically allows it to be seen as an external harddrive, and you just drag and drop.

After all, thats all an ipod really is.

i forget how, but all you need to do is make hidden folders viewable in whatever drive your iPod is labeled as. there should be one that comes up called IPOD_CONTROL. all of your music is in there as files with random four letter/number names. they fix themselves when put into iTunes though.
