MP3-players

I have a 20GB iPod, and I haven't had any trouble with it at all. I don't see why people dislike the iPod simply because it's popular.

ill also give my support for creative. i own a creative zen touch 20GB and am in love with it. sound quality is amazing (although can anyone recommend some good quality earbud headphones that are a little smaller and fit better in the ear?). it feels great in my hand and is very intuitive.

Yea I've had mine for a bit, and it's awesome still :)

I recommend some nice Sony headphones :)

was in the shops yesterday, it was a iriver h10 or zen micro, i chose the iriver, just looks nicer, the zen micro is pretty dull and boring to look at, the white one anyway, looked like an digital alarm clock r sumit...iriver with the colour screen was pretty sweet

I don't hate it because it is popular. I hate it because its "trendy." People that know nothing about MP3 players and sound quality go for iPod just because their 10 other friends have the same exact iPod. With Creative and iRiver, you get more varieties of colours and what not. Creative and iRiver's sound quality are 100% better than an iPod. Yes, iPods are very good. The only reason why they are the best selling is because know-nothings purchase what everyone else has. Don't get me wrong, iPod is a very good MP3 player. I would have probably purchased an iPod if everyone didn't buy one themselves just to follow the trend since they didn't research other MP3 players out on the market.

Please note, that I'm not attempting to flame you or make you look bad, I'm just wondering why you would let other people's purchase influence what you buy? If you think that something is a good player, but a lot of other people have it just because it's trendy, you should just ignore them and get it anyways.

Again, I don't mean to sound stand-off-ish, I'm just in a rambling mode.

Its cool. I just don't want to feel like I am part of the trend. I would rather be different than have the same exact thing as everyone else.. Its rather boring after a while.

Well, as long as everyone can listen to their music, that's all that really matters with MP3 players.

I pod 40 GB. Cant say I'm a bandwagoner cuz i was one of the original people who got it.

I'm going to be buying an MP3 player this weekend - but I can't decide which one. Currently I'm leaning towards one of these two "Creative Labs MuVo Micro N200 1.0GB MP3 Player ($229)" or "Creative Labs Zen Micro 5.0GB MP3 Player - Light Blue ($249)" (prices are Canadian dollars..). I don't know which one to get. The cheaper one has flash memory while the other one has a hard drive. I'm thinking that the 5gb one would be the one to go for as it's only 20 bucks more than the other but has 4gb more of space, but I heard that the hard drives in MP3 players can fail. Is that common or pretty rare? Thanks for any help. :p

It depends on how you treat it. If you baby it and never drop it, then chances are that it'll last you for a good while. If you toss it around like a ragdoll, bumping it into everything, then you don't deserve to have an MP3 player. Also, it could break.

If you are going to be active with your MP3 player, such as lots of running, sports playing, etc, then I'd go with the flash-based player. If you just want general music-listening, and have lots of music, then go for the HDD.

Well..

to be honoust I STILL havn't bought a MP3-player. Just because there's so much choice. But after I've seen the new ipod, I decided I want one. And I mean.. I truly don't give a shit about that ''everybody's got an ipod''-crap or none of that. But it seems those players are just one of the best (if not THE) and look stunningly sexy. And I'm just fed up with searching for the best player.

But I got one problem to solve:

iPod nano 4 Gb 259 euro

or

iPod (I don't know, regular?) 30 Gb 329 euro

I mean.. there's the difference in size, ammount of songs I can put on it and price. But more important is the difference:

HDD - flash memory.

'Cause I mean.. flash memory still seems a lot more reliable to me.

But should I pay the price of 26 Gb to get that?

Money is not a big problem, I just want the best of the two.

Help me out, which one would you guys pick?

I had a creative 1gb and it was pretty cool, good headphones, had a radio player, and you could plug it up to anything to record right from the player, but has really small buttons, and crappy software and that to me was a pain.

I sold that one to my bro and got an even smaller 256MB creative MUVO TX FM MP3 player for a great price (like $39) again, great headphones / sound, FM radio, but when you have it hooked up to your car CD it made a high pitched noise everytime the backlit display (disable that in the options). was on (when changing tracks - which by the way is on a skip by track basis so if you want track 60 you have to skip to track 60! :( ) the software that came with this thing ****ing rules, i can record any sound that i can hear on my PC. It seems to be eating batteries even when not in use. i put a new battery in it and play it for a while, then turn it off. 1 week later it wont even power up, and its not the easiest to replace the battery for and no charger plug ins.

Again with the tiny buttons that are a pain, but the software alone is worth the $39 to me so the mp3 player is a nice bonus

I don't know anything about the iTunes software, or their reliability but if those are not a bad thing then I would definately go with an iPod. My bro has one of these now and it just owns. Its like a mini PC with a color display and wonderful scroll wheel, recharging while interconnected to your PC and just plain awesome sound.
