With my new massive hard drive I decided to back up all my DVD's onto it. I converted them all into mpeg's thinking it would save space. However now I cant find a program to convert them back to vob's after losing one of my DVD's. Can anyone help me?

I dunno if there's a free one... uh I don't know of any free programs that let you do it.

MPEG as in MPEG or MPEG2? and did you re-encode the video?
Both MPEG and MPEG2 use the extensions .mpg and .mpeg.

MPEG works well for low resolution video while MPEG2 is great for saving space while working with high resolutions. DVD's are MPEG2's. VOB's contain MPEG2 video, multiple audio, and subtitle streams etc.

VOB is a file structure or system for the files to read. If you use a program to burn DVDs (Nero etc) you can drop the video in a DVD profile and it will place it in VOB files automaticly.
