I was actually surprised this didn't happen before the live-action movie.

Oh christ they got Production I.G. Well at least it'll look good.

Yes, evil MS, doing what any sensible company does, capitalizing on a succesfull franchise!

BOO MS!

LOL. Love some of the comments:

"I wonder if this will get a Bluray release."

"I think they're going in the back door to the Japanese market. :p"

"Can you hear that? That's money talking. Actually, it's shouting at you, like a Gamestop game adviser who's been low on numbers all week. You know 90% of the people in those animation studios have probably never even played Halo, let alone care about it."

"Needs more tentacle.*"

*That last one was mine and only for you guys on HL2.net. :D

Eh, I guess they can milk it all the want. It's the idiot fans who are latching onto it as if the series is gods gift to anything...
wait...

*Looks at the forums I'm on*
DAMNIT!

This could be interesting, I've always liked the Halo lore, read most of the books.

This sounds pretty cool, and I don't know why it wasn't done before. After all, anime series are well known for re-using stock backgrounds.

you know I love halo really

Someone please put Bungie out of it's misery. I know they did Ony once, but come on. That's like the only good thing they ever created.

I can't help but wonder if we're all just slightly bitter that the Half Life franchise makes us wait years inbetween any tidbit of new material ...?

I'd rather wait a long period for a game than get a constant cavalcade of shite.

Halo anime

Best not be forgetting about Marathon.

And Oni was shit.

What's the big deal? Halo was a good game and the universe was pretty cool.

I welcome this wholeheartedly.

My dad just told me about this over the phone. My dad knew about the halo anime before I did. He doesnt even know what halo or anime even is. WTF

Krynn what the hell I fundamentally cannot imagine what context that would even happen

You know it to be true. Will you seriously defend Shiratama?! Her voice is like rusty nails scraping across a glass sheet.

^This

"M$" is a multi-billion dollar corporation, as so is Sony and Nintendo, not a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the "fine art" that is video games.

Their primary goal is to make $$$, not appeal to obsessed persnickety nerds.

I think an animated Halo movie or series is a great idea, not just in the style of anime, it'd feel more appropriate with a more western animation style in my opinion.

Looks pretty average. Like, not awful, and I'm not all 'grawr Microsoft you whores', it just doesn't look that great. Lacklustre animation, too.

Stop pickin' on MS! Go play your Wii fanboi!

I have only a PS3 and a XB360, does that make me a heterosexual?:(

Ok, this is the thing that annoys me when it comes to people that deem games sh*t. If a game has certain bad qualities like bad voiceacting or whatever, it automatically gets the sh*t-stamp.

Some people actually have the ability to see past those bad qualities and enjoy the rest of the game, dispite other elements that may make it less enjoyable.

I don't even know why I'm trying to defend this game anymore, I've lost all respect for Bungie anyway. All I'm saying, any Halo game can suck it in comparison. At least Oni doesn't rehash the same level over and over again as if the entire game was supposed to be some kind of joke. In my opinion, that is a major bad quality that should deem the game sh*t.

Oh, I see. I'm sorry, I apologize. I was inconsiderate to label the game shit based on something as arbitrary as 'bad voice acting,' when Oni had so many marvelous characteristics.

Like clunky controls in an action game. A plot that was arse and cliche as hell. Did you just say something about Halo's environments? Because boy, Oni's level design sure wasn't FLAT AND BLAND at all, no sir. And boy, pulling all those switches to open doors?! HOW FUN! Coupled with having no music until you get to an action sequence with balls-stupid AI opponents, Oni sure is a masterpiece.

I don't even know why I'm trying to defend this game anymore

Oh no, please, continue this argument with me. Honestly, try to defend Oni. Please, I actually want to hear you try to counter argue with me on this. How anyone can actually enjoy Oni is beyond me. What will you tell me, good sir? That music isn't necessary in a game? Maybe that the controls are good "once you get used to them?" I rock God Hand and Robot Alchemic Drive so you can't tell me shit about controls. Were the enemies supposed to be that stupid? Maybe you'll go back to my original argument and try to say that the voice acting was supposed to intentionally sound like complete and utter ass?

Come on now, don't give up. Defend Oni's honor.

Well, since you ask so nicely. Not that Bungie has any honor left, but...

Hmm, nope, can't say I find them controlls clunky, don't know where you got that from. I ran through it on hard on my first run and I was new to the whole WASD + mouse controller-thing back then.

I didn't actually bother much to look into the plot back when it was new. I played it mainly for the gameplay which I found rather entertaining. Can't say I cared much about stages being bland, worked for me. Boss battles were entertaining as far as I was concerned. Yes. I agree that AI can be dumbass stupid at times, but again, didn't bother me.

So why do I still like it? I dunno. Why do people like games? They can have really good overall gameplay mechanics, good music, etc etc, and there are still people that think it's shit. I guess it works the other way around too.

previously complained about Halo levels
Herp. I guess you must be a fan of switches. "How do I pass this section of Oni? Oh, I bet there's a switch around here somewhere..."

Also, being able to adapt to a game's control scheme and beat it on hard != good controls. Konoko's movement and control was shit. Maybe it's because you were new to the whole keyboard + mouse thing that you didn't realize it. And woe to anyone playing it on the console, because Oni's control flaws were even more apparent there.

I agree that AI can be dumbass stupid at times, but again, didn't bother me.
"I don't mind stupid enemies that can pinpoint me from miles away."

good music
WHAT music? Music? In Oni? You mean for battle sequences? Otherwise I hope the only sound you enjoy is the ambient sound of things like fans.

Basically your whole defense of Oni is "Oh, well this is bad, but I didn't mind." That's not the indicator of a good game, that's just nostalgic feelings talking. You can like Oni all you want, man, but it isn't a good game. And that's perfectly fine if you can enjoy a crappy game--just don't try and say things like, "Oni was good, Halo sucks, I have no respect for Bungie," especially when you go on to bash Halo for problems that either Oni had as well, or praise Oni for lacking things that Halo had. Like ACTUAL MUSIC. Or voice actors that don't make you want to stab toothpicks in your eardrums.

It makes you look like a hypocritical tool with bad taste in video games.
