AT MSI.COM forums, Ive read many posts that FX5900 does not work in all games.

My?.
is it safe (good) to buy MSI FX5900 ULTRA or shall I buy 9800PRO?????

I *think* 9800 Pro. I have one, love it.
But that's just me. :)

WHICH MANUFACTURE and is it fine to play any games without freezing or crashes... thanks:cheers:

I have no idea where you are getting errors with the 5900u.
Personally, I like Gainward, but MSI is good too.
I'd perosnally rather have a 5900u than a 9800PRO, but that's me.

If you go the route of the 9800 Pro, get Sapphire.

I own a saphire 9700pro....ive never had a problem.

I would say saphire.

Got a Gainward 5900U golden sample and I couldnt be happier. If your this stressed out between picking cards why cant you wait until Valve released a benchmark program for HL2's source engine, then decide what card to pick when people post results?

ya.. didn't Gabe say that benchmarking tools will be released a little before HL2 is out? man, I hope so... it would rock to see how your comp does before playing the game.. but even so, I'd still wait for the game before upgrading

as for 5900/9800, they are very close in terms of performance/driver quality; ATi has the Omega guy and nV I would say has a longer lasting rep; I've heard Gabe say "I would recommend a 9800Pro for your setup..."
well, we're gonna see about that... personally, I hardly see a diff.

Yes Gabe has said they will release benchmarking tools before HL2's release. I cant wait for it myself. :bounce:

Another vote for waiting until HL2 is released and a benchmark is out. By that time ATi should have other cards out which will drive prices down even more

i cant wait for that benchmarking tools, i love stuff like that. as for me, im waiting until september 29 to buy my 9700/9800/9900 pro depending on how much cash i work up =)

im gettign an ati 9800 pro soon, i was just gonna get an ati, dose it matter, why is sapphire better?

Sapphire is a very large third-party manufacturer of ATi cards, kinda like how Visiontek was with nVidia cards before they stopped; they're great, nothing wrong with them

9900Pro? you mena R400?
where did that come from? he said 9800pro; however, it would be nice if you had the power to buy a 9900pro before they're out :p not so sure that's possible, heh ...

well, the difference used to be that they worked for different companies, ATi and the other nVidia, but now Visiontek has sided with ATi, and considering their excellent reputation with their Xtasy cards, there's no reason why you could make a wrong decision to go with them and buy one of their ATi cards... Sapphire is a good choice as well

by the way, I've seen the 9800 at Best Buy for $350 with 7 games bundled... however, it may have been just the non-pro version, I don't recall... nevertheless, you can't go wrong with it... I'd rather get the 256mb part tho

don't forget that companies plan years ahead when in tough competition... for all we know, ATi is probably working on the R500 as we speak; however, the 9900 should be out, or I hope, in fall sometime
