A few days ago I was playing Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, and I had forgotten to set my msn messenger status to Busy. Halfway through the game, an msn alert popped up, and suddenly I was able to see through walls and objects in-game. After the alert closed, i lost my superpowers, and the screen brightness was mysteriously halved. I've noticed this in a couple of other games too, althought not in CounterStrike Source. I've been wondering if anyone else has been experiencing the same effect.

my friends day of defeat used to do this when it got minimized, he could see through walls. very annoying if you didnt know the level very well, as you would get stuck often

oooh :D
/me tries out on tfc

Being a spy... best thing ever. Nah I don't cheat, it's pointless ;)

I heard it was certain graphic cards with certain game engines, obviously not the HL2 engine because you haven't expirenced it with that.

When you mean you can see through walls do you mean the screen sort of flickers to make it able to see through walls?

and no, I haven't expirenced this

it has to do with something about how the render'er works, I've had similar things happen with CoD

happened to me whilst playing D3, was funny at first, but ****ed up the experience after a while:(

I have had similar problems. Once i was spawning tonnes of reborn force users in Jedi Knight 2: Outcast, and i left msn on 'online' and everytime an alert came up and minimised itself again, the brightness died and the screen was just off black, i could just about see my saber. I don't understand why that happens, any geeks here any idea?

lol! I remember that bug! It worked in Natural Selection as well.

I played counterstrike once, when microsoft messanger popup minimised counterstrike to the taskbar. Trying to get back on to the game only caused it to crash, so I had to reboot my entire system

I always got that back when i played op4mp with my tnt2 and the game got minimized.

Yep, it's helped me in NS. I've seen a few marines around the corners just because someone decided to log on to MSN ;).

That happens in Soldier of Fortune 2. You can get banned for it too. [at least you could if a pb screeny had you using it]
