I'm just wondering y do u guys think its a big secret??? I think its because they're fixing the models up so that when you speak over the mic u can see you character speaking the way you are with all the right muscle movements in the face. and also maybe there coming up with some special kinda game that involves using their automobile system :\

Yeah, and how do you have this information?

Besides, its the details on multiplay thats secret, not what thier doing.

The thing you talk about chris_3 is very easy do to so no that's not the secret things. I don't think it's no special secrets in MP just very good. (i hope) :)

uh chris, no, they are being quiet because they want it to be a suprise, they probably wont even say anything about it until a few days before release or maybe not at all.

I hope that for HL2's basic mp they've come up w/ something original and unique. Considering with what they've done with SP, its definately a possibility. :p

I've read (probably in the info from Valve thread on here actually) that they have already cnfirmed that the characters will speak when you speak, and using surround sound the voice will also come from the proper direction too.

I can't imagine why it's such a secret. I'm assuming it's going to be something big for them to warrent building up everyone's expectations like they are. Hopefully it's a really good co-op game because other types of multiplayer fps (e.g. deathmatch) are really dominated by Unreal and Quake and it'll be hard to steal their crowns.

I live in hope that their big secret is that CS2 will be shipped with HL2 though! :D

If they end up just giving us crappy deathmatch like HL1 then heads will roll my friend, HEADS WILL ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i bet thats what its going to be just plan old deathmatch but i bet valve some some suprises up their sleeves

the voice thing ur talkin about si impossibe...you need the .wav file so the engine can take that information, and move the muscles acordingly....

Dam are they really doing the voice recognetion. wow
this is going to be cool.

just guessing that thats it ... dont see u sending out any guesses

LOL the source engine has that built in, it one of their most advertised features.

rollthedise, there is a streamlined version for realtime lip synching for use when you talk. The single player doesn need to proccess a wav file or something

Well it better be good. Cause the more anticipation they build without any info the more people are going to be expecting out of it. And if it's not good (which I HIGHLY doubt) people are going to get pissed.

Hopefully it's a really good co-op game

No. Co-op will be a mod, done by the Sven-coop people and out a little while after HL2.

Lip synching in MP will be simpler, less accurate systems that can function in real time without too much overhead. They will also scale down as needed the more people are talking in a given area.

well considering Gabe Newel is my sister's cousin's roommate's brother's mother's friend's aunt's son i should know.

They are adding babies as a secret class. If you select "Baby 1" then you get super powers. If you select "Baby 2" you get extreme strength" if you select "baby 3" you get unlimited rockets. Each babies skill has cool features and interactions with the source.

its secret because its a us army training tool and they dont want us bein all conspicuius how do you spell dat one

Switch, LoneDeranger: The way the lip-synching is done in SP is not dynamic. They do it by recording the .WAV file, loading it into a program which takes the sounds and makes the mouth animations (which can be fine-tuned by the creator), and those animations are plugged into the .WAV file. Then when it's played, the character's mouth and facial animations are used in sync with the .WAV sounds. There is a streamlined and dynamic way to do the facial animations, but its not as high-quality as the singleplayer Source's way, but in MP you won't be focussing on player interaction so it will be hard to notice any difference.
