Multiple Endings??

How many Endings will HL2 Will have? What do u think?
anyone here actually asked gabe about this? if so plz post the answers\info.

Btw: What about Multiple ways to finish each episode? it would be lovely too.

I've always assumed the game would have a linear storyline.......but what do i know.

well we know HL3 is in the works, so doubt there will be multiple endings.

More likely, there will be multiple routes through the game, all of which diverge into the same ending which will lead onto HL3. I think they will put out a cliff hanger ending (which means there can only be 1 ? ) this time round in anticipation for HL3

Yeah .. Hl1 had 2 diff. endings.. And Hl2 got no multiple begginings.

There could be like 1 way to finish the game but 2-3 other ways to finish it in a bad way which will cause total distruction to earth \ gordon's \ etc..

but the 1 good ending will be the openning for hl3.

I really hope you can't **** it up that bad. I mean, come one, i would end up destroying the earth like 15 times before i would get to the point where i would only destroy gordon. =D. I see it haveing one ending really. I hate games that over do their story line(Metal Gear).

Well no matter what, all hardcore HL fans will complete HL2 multiple times anyway. And if there's multiple endings then we're gonna play through the game to experience each ending. So HL3 could have multiple beginnings and there could be an option at the beginning to start the game with the appropriate beginning based on the HL2 ending you experienced. Then of course we'd play all the multiple beginnings, but somewhere along the line obviously the beginnings have to lead into the same story with a few small differences.

And HL1 didn't really have multiple endings, if you chose to tell G-Man to go **** himself then you'd be teleported to all those alien grunts etc. and it'd automatically load the last saved game.

U don't know. Personally, I am scared to think of a HL3 and how it could possibly ruin the whole story because imo, 2 is enough.

Well, I don't think it would ruin the whole story since of what I've heard, the story is written from the very beginning to expand through three episodes...

Both HL1 and HL2 stories have been written by Marc Laidlaw who is an award winning novelist... I'm gonna try and find some of his books actually... What would also be cool is if he wrote Half-Life: The Novel.

i believe there is a single defined ending for hl2.. but it doesn't mean the gameplay is at all controlled.. just directed seemlessly.

hl2 could end up being like matrix reloaded in the matrix trilogy, not really going anywhere but learning alot about the story and understanding more about the game,

dunno tho, whatever it is Valve will make a good job of it

Metal Gear Solid had the best storyline to date.. I can't wait for Twin Snakes! I havn't played the original Metal Gear games so I cannot comment on them, but most things from Konami rock.

the 'orginal' metal gear games were so horribly lame and boring beyond belief.. if you disagree your wrong =P.. i was fine with the typical giant robot hijacking nothing new metal gear storyline until they did the whole playing a video game drug induced junk.. how retarded i hated that it ruined the whole purpose of the game.. when i got to that point i just turned it off and sold it.. and what kind of a name is snake eater! The only reason HL1 had multiple endings is because if you chose one, it would lead to your death. So, in reality, there was only one ending. You go through the portal, or you died. HL2 may have some life or death offer again, but, who would give it? I don't think the G-Man is going to make it through. I bet he gets the axe at some point because there's some power/being greater than him that gets sick of him screwing up the plot to destroy the world.
It seemed through HL1 that GMan was observing you (Freeman) and watching you fight off aliens and whatnot. Maybe he was hoping for your death? He seemed to be talking a bit nervous in his ending speech. I think G-Man's plans were for Freeman to get killed at some point, but, we just kept on living.

Who knows? We'll see when we see.

Ah, I thought Deus Ex handled the multiple endings aspect beautifully, but I really can't see Half-Life 2 having much in terms of multiple endings. It's just one of those games that seems to be focusing on other things than being non-linear.

But that interesting 2 begining cause 2 ends in HL you can begin working for g-man or begining complety wounded by your last fight with the grunts when you didn t accept the g-man offer and someone could find you on xen take you back to earth ??
