What if I had a brother, and me and my brother both wanted to play Half Life 2 and it's mods, what is the best thing for us to do? subscribe to a steam account for the two of us, so i only have to download the game once? Buy the game in the shop?

Because, i wouldn't want to have to go and buy everything twice, because that's just silly ;)

But, isn't there a legal way for us to only pay once? I mean, we live in the same house... or do i have to buy it twice?

If you have one system then you only need to buy one copy of the game. If you want to use two systems and play each other online then you need two copies of the game and two steam accounts for each CD-Key otherwise there's no way you can access the multiplayer features.

hehe Munro , you know that wont be the case ;) , certain people with home networks wont stand for that and will probably find a way around it :P

besides I thought you only needed to register it on steam if you wanted to play on the net, I guess what you'll have to do mate, is hook the computers up some time on a LAN if thats possible.

If we have 2 systems, and 1 steam id for each of us, and we buy the game in the store, are we allowed to install it on both steam accounts and systems as long as we don't play at the same time?

And one more thing - if i download the game from a subscription to steam, is it possible to copy it over to my brother's account, and then we can both play it as long as we don't play at the same time?

The first thing sounds correct. As for the subscription, I don't think so.

No, you cannot bind your CD key to two accounts.

A CD key can only be bound to 1 account. If you and your brother are only planning to play at different times from one another it is possible to say play on your computer, log off your Steam account, and then your brother log into your Steam account on his computer and play.

Hmm... that complicates things. In that case, i guess the best way is if we both subscribe to steam so we can both play them at the same time on our own accounts.
